The advice I got for job hunting:
Never release your resume online, for insurance companies are the only ones that bother to send them out.
Apply for jobs early, always, but make your application relevant.
Success is not determined by talent, intelligence or even effort.
It's more of an opportunity to make the fullest use of opportunities given.
