I am planning a mini private story to myself resembling the 'what-ifs' in my family.
I am going to write about the story of a child and an estranged Chinese Singaporean father, who abandoned his child (living alone under an African American mother, due to both 'racial prejudice' and legal issues) and his bond with the Singapore government, to live first with insecure passion for maximum money after the hurt of 9/11, then get 'lost' while profiting from the subprime mortgages securities and eventually got lucky (by saving himself from economic fallout), then went on to pursue his passion as an urban geographer, together with his reunited son, without guilt and with happiness. There are bigger things than honor and scholarship - like love and passion.
Thing is, they're just plans. And we cannot deny ASD but we wished ASD hadn't limited us.
