What's your favorite song this week?

Good question - several, it seems - but here's one of my long-term favorites. I like Oistrakh's recording best, but this one's pretty good, although the video is missing the cadenza (violin solo at the end. It's about the most angsty thing I've ever heard).

I don't mean to promote my Youtube channel, but this is one of my favorite songs and I decided to play it on my trumpet.

Spanish songs in Andalucia
The shooting sites in the days of '39
Oh please leave the ventana open
Federico Lorca is dead and gone

Bullet holes in the cemetery walls
The black cars of Guardia Civil
Spanish bombs on the Costa Rica
I'm flying in on a DC-10 tonight

Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n
Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n

Spanish weeks in my disco casino
The freedom fighters died up on the hill
They sang The Red Flag, they wore the black one
After they died it was mockingbird hill

Back home the buses went up in flashes
The Irish tomb drenched in blood
Spanish bombs shatter the hotels
My se?oritas rose was nipped in the bud

Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n
Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n

The hillsides ring with "Free the people"
Or can I hear the echoes from the days of '39?
Trenches full of poets, a ragged army
Fixing bayonets to fight the other line

Spanish bombs rock the province
I'm hearing music from another time
Spanish bombs, Costa Brava
I'm flying in on a DC-10 tonight

Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n
Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiera, oh mi coraz?n

Spanish songs in Andaluc?a, Mandolina
Oh mi coraz?n
Spanish songs in Granada
Oh mi coraz?n

When she said, "Don't waste your words, they're just lies," I cried she was deaf
And she worked on my face until breaking my eyes, and said, "What else you got left?"
It was then that I got up to leave, but she said, "Don't forget
Everybody must give something back for something they get"

I stood there and hummed, I tapped on her drum, I asked her how come
And she buttoned her boot, and straightened her suit, and she said, "Don't get cute"
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs
And gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum

She threw me outside, I stood in the dirt where everyone walked
And after finding out I'd forgotten my shirt, I went back and knocked
I waited in the hallway, she went to get it, and I tried to make sense
Out of that picture of you in your wheelchair that leaned up against

Her Jamaica rum, and when she did come, I asked her for some
She said, "No, dear," I said, "Your words aren't clear, you'd better spit out your gum"
She screamed 'til her face got so red, then she fell on the floor
And I covered up and then thought I'd go look through her drawer

And when I was through, I filled up my shoe and brought it to you
And you, you took me in, you loved me then, you never wasted time
And I, I never took much, I never asked for your crutch
Now don't ask for mine

The song in my signature:

I listened to it a couple times a long time ago but forgot what it was like. I decided to listen to it again the other day because: 1. I'm fond of the few Mike Oldfield songs I've heard with Maggie Reilly on vocals -- especially the song To France. 2. It's one of David Gilmour of Pink Floyd's favorite songs.

Seven Lonely Days by Georgina Gibbs.

I love this jazz song :) Because I'm really lonely - can only do some things once every week. :D
