I'm new, any nerds out there?

Hello,

I'm new to the site- let me introduce myself :)

I was diagnosed as having high-functioning autism about a decade ago. I just moved to a new city in the Midwest which, sadly, does not have a lot of options or opportunities for me to meet other people- especially others on the spectrum- so I've decided to turn to the internet for solace. I work in the medical field; I'm new at it and doing well with the technical side of things, but I am not so good at socializing with the patients. I usually blow off steam by playing video games, drawing, or just reading indie comics or learning about the latest research in zoology, psychiatry, or the latest research in medical science.

I haven't been actively involved in the autism community until fairly recently. I'd like to know: are there any other art or comic enthusiasts out there? If so, does anyone know of any creators on the spectrum?

Hello & welcome.
[A]re there any other art or comic enthusiasts out there?
I collected comics in the bronze age, but they are too expensive for me, now.

That is my favorite art style. Having face-blindness, I collect playscale action dolls to help me draw faces.

I created this trumpeter character for my oldest daughter (using one of my arti-Barbies as a lay figure).

That's pretty cool, I've never used dolls as a reference. I don't have the extra money to use dolls, so I usually try using photo references or stills of actors or athletes.

Welcome! Another Aspie in the medical field here. Not much of a comic collector, definitely a nerd though. Video games and books are my favorite means of escapism, but reading up on medical journals in my fields of interest is a stimulating pastime as well (if not as relaxing).

Hope you have a good time around here.

Lately, it's been RPGs and other open-world games. I also love vintage games, especially platformers, and been playing World of Warcraft off and on. I'm hoping that once I've saved enough, I can switch from my crappy, old lap top and get a better PC. For now, it's lag city.

Hello! What part of the field? I'm in phlebotomy and am [hopefully] about to start training in plasma apheresis.

Cool! I'm a junior doctor, currently working in internal medicine, pulmonology, cardiology and gastro-enterology and hepatology. I'm still trying to figure out which field I want to specialize in, but I'm not sure which one I like best :)

Welcome Aesclipia.
I like your username as I wear a medic alert necklace with one on it. People like it even if they don't know what it is and serves my purpose.

I'm retired from the pharmaceutical industry and always had, (still do) varied interests in the health field.
I had a difficult time trying to decide which area I wanted to specialise in. I'm interested in psychology and took nurses training in that field. Medicine and the human biology in most any area of health interests me.
I enjoy reading and keeping up on the latest sciences.
Also cosmology and geology.

Guess you could call me nerdy as I like studying and could stay on the computer around the clock.
Keeping my mind occupied.
I like creepy cartoons like a friend of mine does.
Works like Bible Black and Lobster Girl -- Jon Morvay.

I am a geek! There is a difference, but I hope that is OK! Since I love ancient history, I love your name. I am partial to the Greeks, so this is how I will think of you! Ἀσκληπιός
