Woke up and could hardly speak

D'Andre

Well-Known Member
Not sure if related to ASD, I collapsed at my church yesterday, er said vitals normal. Woke up and found nearly impossible to speak. The words are there but don't want to come out and my head hurts in the back. Also my motor skills are slow habds numb. Anyone relate or any insight

Get checked to see if you had a stroke or other medical problem D'Andre. Collapsing one day and waking up unable to speak is a serious enough situation to get me to the doctor.

My mother had something similar last year (she's autistic too), in her case it was from being overworked as a result of pushing herself too much during some major home renovations. She ended up in the hospital for a few weeks to recover but pretty much all she needed was rest. Her speech was very slow and slurred, movements slow. It's like the body entered emergency preservation mode and put a hard limit on energy spending for those actions.

how is your blood sugar?

how about iron?

heart rate?

did they say anything about a t.i.a.?

recent use of opiods or benzos?

********

regardless, i would GO BACK to the E.R. today, and tell them about your continued symptoms. They will run more tests.

Ouch, that must have been scary. I see you are only 39. Let's hope it was nothing serious. I've had dizzy spells in past, but nothing serious.

Yeah I would get medical attention asap. Expert opinions. Thats a bad sign, you need to be sure what caused it.

Its not rare that when people on the spectrum get overloaded they may become non verbal for short periods.

However I would go to the doctor to check it. I wish you to recover soon.

Wow. I had not heard of that before. Definately something to follow up with with a doctor.

Thank you Slim Jim!

I'm coming up 34,

:(

So it makes me consider...I'm only a few years away from you. It's strange how age catches up with you. And these problems can arise. I always tell people I wont live to make it to old age. But I' m still relatively young, so I'll stick around, for a while. *knock on wood*

Precurser to stroke? I plugged your age in the Z-Table, you look OK. risk of dying pretty low.

Yeah, I think you're just cool enough to live a full enjoyable life. Good vibes from ya

Sorry to hear you are unwell, hope they can explain any causes to you very soon. Good to know they are investigating whats wrong, or perhaps this could be stress? My dad, who wasn't diagnosed with Aspergers but he had many of the signs of it and nowadays would probably have been diagnosed ASD1, collapsed with a possible heart attack around your age, but the issue was stress, he didn't have a bad heart. He had to rest and relax, lose weight and get fitter. He took up cycling. Hope you can get some rest while they work out how best to help.

That's much appreciated!

I'm sorry that happened, D'Andre :( That sounds like it was really scary!!
I agree with everyone who posted here that it's good that you got medical attention. Hopefully the results will be in soon.
I have non-epileptic seizures and sometimes I feel like what you described before and after a seizure.
Sending positive thoughts your way and hoping you get answers soon!

Thank you!! Diagnosed with aphasia! So my speech patterns are inconsistent.

IT's Automated, put it together years ago before my stroke. I temporarily lost hearing on left side for about 5 minutes. saw specialist, found nothing wrong. had stroke month latter.
