My first thought after reading the title: are you trying to convert people inside a special religious-mobile :p:eek:? Don't ask me why..

Kinda like the art of Zen Van conversion. Lol
This days I get to the night very exausted. Im dealing with a lot of small stuff lately. None of them so important, but they add. I hope to rest well this night and I wish you all a proper rest too. Hugs.
I have been teaching to my daugther how to hide her intelligence in the hope she will have less problems at school than I had. I feel dirty.

Ouch. Yup. Intelligent girls can feel out of place. Maybe you can take her aside, and explain your job to her. Ask her what her interests are, and maybe find a book that gives her detail about this passion.

Don't do that necessarily. Other people can tell, and masking, masking, masking just doesn't help anyone. Good luck though.

Knowing how and when to mask is a neccesity to get a job, and to be part of the NT society. School, university and so. Or thats my opinion. So she must learn. But I dont like to teach her not be herself.
Being a child its so difficult nowadays. Being a good father its also difficult. Im so tired and empty today. Good nite, need to recharge.
Apart from the books I read, I like to listen fantasy audiobooks while I drive, they relax me and time passes way faster. Its actually dissociation, because I just fade away into the tale and the driving stuff is done automatically, like I was walking.

That sounds embarrassing right there. Bicycle isn't safe in the USA either but I used mine all the time & I plan to rescue & re-use it. The "projecting success" stuff is just so counterproductive! Who CARES how you get to work? I'd be asking them to pay me for the 6 wasted hours, too.

All people care about that social status stuff, thats why companies use it. All level of power need some material stuff to denote their status. From kings, to rich people that buy jatchs they wont use, to luxury cars, to private planes, to very exclusive restaurants and clothes.

NT world is like that, and when you play the game to get a boss position in a company you cant tell them to compensate you for giving you status. You would lose the position. If you want the possition and the money you must play your role. Im still the black sheep in the company, but I cant refuse to my status signals and keep the position.
I got my proffesional valoration. Its not a complete diagnostic study, but a valoration of my profile based on my past, experiences and self perception. My profile is coherent with double excepcionality: High Capacities + Autism with alexithymia.

It is simpler, cheaper and less accurate since there are no "exams". But on the other hand its a decent first step to get some feedback. This one was 120 Eur vs 1k Eur for an Autism diferential diagnose.

I went to see a psychologist (who I think might be autistic) specializing in autism who pretty much confirmed I have autism, though it was just based on an hour long conversation. It sounds like your method was more in depth. She was nice enough to do it for free, since it was my first time with her.

She recommended against getting an official diagnosis as it's so much trouble (2+ year waiting lists) and costs so much. I might do this if it is possible where I live. At least it would give me something to show others, even if I don't have an "official" diagnosis. I suspect I have a similar profile to you. I think what you mentioned regarding the protection alexithymia gave you might apply to me as well.
    Does it ring a Bell?

I remember eight inch floppy disks. Try putting a mp3 on one of those suckers. See how far that gets you. I also remember my very first hard drive held a massive 10MB.

My legacy computer not only has a 3.5 floppy drive, but also a now considered rare Iomega Zip Drive. Which holds a staggering 100 megabytes! LOL...
I have found a spanish psicology who is autists, high capacities and ADHD herself. Also knows about trauma and disociation, speaks about distinctive parts of herself as separated identities, is friendly with different genders... Her curriculum is as variated and deep as I would expect from a top proffesional... Is it a trap? I think Im choosing her to valorate me, Im a bit nervous.
I have found very interesting autism info at Instagram under the #actuallyautistic tag.

I guess they also use that tag in other platforms. Just in case any of you may be interested.

I use it occasionally on Potato Cat's IG. It is one I follow, and the content is pretty decent.
Finished "Trauma and Recovery" book. It was not just reading but a lot of thinking, remembering, accepting, learning and feeling. Im glad I finished it, It has been quite an experience.

    Do you recommend it?

I recomend it for learning purposes. In case of a person with PSTD that may want to "self heal" I would first ask with the psicologist first. It triggered me a lot and I dont have PSTD.

It may be usefull in later stages of the recovery proccess, but even in that case I would consult with my therapist first.

That's actually very useful to know. I have been considering giving it to someone dealing with PTSD (well, post PTSD after going through therapy last year, but still...), though I have been hesitant. I would not do it without talking with her first anyways, but it's good to know that it can be triggering.
The company I work in is having problems. I may lose my job soon. They have been firing a lot of people lately to cut expenses. Just some of them came to say good bye to me, that makes me more aware of how weak my personal relation with them was. Im feeling sad today. So many people leaving.

Yeah I read that Philips is now laying off 6000 people worldwide. Just a few months after they laid off 4000! That's 10 000 jobs lost in a few months, in just one company. :fearscream:

I think it is nice as well to read such an optimistic work on autism. I think it might in part be as a counterbalance to the popular perception of autism which is still quite negative. It's interesting to read your thoughts on trauma. I'll need to reread it with that in mind. Thinking back, I think my favourite work might be the girl with an interest in clocks.

She wanted time to go back and just enjoy staring the stars. I also enjoy simple things, this image from vandog traveller brings me a lot of peace:

I like to imagine I have a camper van with everything I need to survive inside, so I can just be and see.

I think a part of the reason I liked the story so much is because I had those same "glow in the dark stars" when I was a kid, but stuck on the side of a cupboard. I moved away a long time ago, but the simple existance does call for me as well. I relish every opportunity to spend time reading by myself away from the internet.
