So sorry about the title, I couldn't think of anything. Anyway my mom called someone to help with my nephew, especially with his behavior and I was wondering how to tell if they're gonna use ABA methods on him and how bad is ABA? I over heard someone say they use "legal abuse" methods and that was it; I figured people on here will know better about it than if I were to do research on my own.

I hope others will comment, but I think the majority opinion here is that ABA is useless and harmful. In simple terms, ABA traumatizes the subject (or victim) into behaving normally. The autism remains and is not cured, simply covered up. This almost always causes trouble further down the line. I hope they don't use it.

Hi @Ame568.

I think it's good to be as well informed as possible, especially considering the opinions of autistic people with personal experience with ABA. Here are a few existing threads that discuss ABA therapy.
