Are you finally independent of your mother? If you are still a dependent then your "get lost" is as useful as tits on a snake.
 
Markness, I think there is value in being able to set and maintain boundaries even with those who are closely connected to us. Sometimes, independence is not immediately possible, and yet it is still very valuable to learn how to filter out what others say and not be too affected by it.

In my view, telling your mother to get lost is setting a boundary. This looks different for everyone. As long as you don’t integrate her thinking as your own, you are maintaining independent thinking, and that is important.
