  • Do I need to become a “bad boy” or “jerk?”

You just need to up your charm. First learn to recognize body language and social communication. I now know that I was blind to such and could not recognize if a girl/woman was interested in me. Sorting things out I began changing when I once thought as you did but realized that I never acted to offer women a choice.

It's really hard to be somebody you're not for an extended period of time. You have to make small changes gradually, otherwise your ego will slap you back down and make you feel ashamed for being the jerk you so desire to be when you do something that hurts someone's feelings.

    Slime_Punk
I don't recommend becoming a jerk, but if you dedicate yourself to it, you can change your entire persona and make it stick if you nurture the process.
I worry that I may be unlovable. :(

Markness, if you are like your online self in real life, the flood of self pity is not looking good on you. Ignore "detractors" and read Dale Carnegie

I don't feel unloved by people I interact with. They are usually friendly to me.

I'm inclined to think that someone has to really get to know you over time to make such a conclusion.
I want a better life but I am worried it’s too late for it to actually get better.

    Same here.

I want a better life, so I’m going to make it happen.

I am no better than you, we just have a different attitude in this way.

If you want it, do it. Never too late.
Do my detractors want me to hate myself?
    Gerald Wilgus
    Gerald Wilgus
NO, they do not, because they see that you have cornered the market in self hate, already.

your "detractors" are likely only noticing your self doubt.

Many of your so-called detractors on this forum, are in fact, fervent supporters.
But you don't appear able to see that.
It’s so hot today. I don’t want to go back out until it gets darker.

    That makes sense.
When I lived with my mother in Louisiana, I used to
wait until late afternoon/early evening when the temp
was 90 or less before going for a walk.

The trees also shaded the road by then.
I feel blue again and tears are forming in my eyes.

I’m having the same type of day. I’m sorry you’re suffering too.
I’m here if you need to vent, as always.
I’m stuck on an assignment that is due tomorrow night.

I'm usually against cheating, but is it something Chat GPT can help with?

I don’t know. It’s a very specific research paper that requires quoting from official articles.

I wouldn’t recommend cheating. Don’t waste your time cheating, just buckle down and do it. You usually get it done.
I don’t fit in even with other autistic people.

@tree I keep getting rejected or ignored when I attempt to socialize.

I don’t have a girlfriend, I am not talented at anything, and I am a social pariah.

One of those statements is a fact.
    The other two are opinions.

@Markness I am not talented in anything. I can't sing. I tried to play the piano so many times and gave up everytime. Also I can never get a girlfriend either.
I feel cheated from my college experiences.

I expect you're talking about the unrealistic social expectations your
family has regarding college? You don't mean your classes have been
    less than instructive, right?
Had to watch the front desk for an hour and some patrons got testy with me.

At the library I go to most often, the place to return books is right next
to the front desk. Sometimes one of the people working the front desk
immediately picks up the returns and takes them away, leaving the
other person to mind the desk. There are generally 2 people at the desk.

@tree The work area I am in became short staffed and the only other person who was still on the clock had to cover for someone upstairs so I was alone.

    What is a 'turn-in slot'?

Is that like place near the front door or something?
Our library has a built in drop area at the front door
and a drop box (like a mail box) at the back door.

And the wheeled shelf that sits next to the front desk,
    which I mentioned yesterday.
I did something against my better judgment.

You told yourself some familiar stories?
    Markness

@tree I did and the fact I am turning 35 makes the feelings even stronger.
    tree
    tree
No, the fact that you'll be 35 on your next birthday doesn't make the feelings of inferiority stronger.
The fact that you keep telling yourself that you're a loser does.
My social security deposit came in. I used some of it to get some of my credit card paid off, put some in my savings account, and will use some to get my car’s oil changed.

I just wiped out my credit card this week. Two years ago, l wiped out 9000 dollars in credit card debit. I am a lot happier not sitting with so much debit.

And you call yourself a loser? I think not. You're a wonderful, intelligent, responsible, nice person. Just remember that.
I can’t see any options nor solutions for my struggles.

The main thing is, you cannot study if you are stressed. Do something else, stim or cry or eat or whatever. And then you can study faster and better than ever before.

I like crying because it is both emotional, and the sobs are stimming to my body as I shake. But some people don't like to cry.
I’m probably going to flunk this college course.
