What is your dream job?

I think I'll add one: psychic detective :D :H
that would be pretty cool, if I could actually do that :)
 
Well, the first option that comes to mind is video game design, or something therein. It was my desire back when I was 13 onwards, and to some extent it still is.

If not, then I'd like to take up general programming. If you really want me to get ridiculous, I'd like to race exotic cars for a living, but that's unlikely to happen in my lifetime so I'll stick with either of the first two options.
 
My dream job is to be a best selling writer. It's something that I enjoy doing, and I could possibly make alot of money from it.
 
I always wanted to be a scientist. My fourth-grade teacher made fun of me in front of the whole class when I said that, as if that was a stupid aspiration compared to the policemen, firemen, and doctors all the other boys wanted to be. I have never forgiven her for that.

It would have helped as I was growing up if someone had told me that scientists were not the know-it-alls that my role models were--characters like the Professor on Gilligan's Island. I know now that scientists are specialists who know a lot about very narrow fields. That still appeals to me, if I had known enough to choose a field that could hold my interest and stay relevant.

The complication for me now is that I have realized from the jobs I have had in the past that it doesn't matter so much what I do as what kind of work environment I would have. That's hard to explain to people when I am looking for work, and made harder because I still haven't figured out exactly what kind of work environment suits me. My recent suspicion that I have AS, or at least PDD-NOS, gives some validation to that belief, and I hope that it will also give me a framework for recognizing what a good environment would be. (Gee, I did not write out PDD-NOS--even I am not that much of a stickler for detail. I used the abbreviation. There must be a macro that made the substitution when I posted the message.)

I want to be a copy editor. Grammar is something at which I excel; I am currently the editor of my school's newspaper, so I imagine that could look good on a resum
 
I just want to keep swinging my hammer and cranking my drill. All I want in life is a comfortable financial situation from construction.
 
I would like to farm. It's a good break from the research. And no one knows how to do it anymore.
I would like to have a family farm, and my kids would grow up in that setting, instead of in city life.
 
That's interesting, Dizz! My husband is very much drawn to farming too. His grandmother farmed but she lived in a temperate climate. Here in QC, it's snowy for a significant part of the year so farming is tough.

Right now, the backyard has 2 rain barrels, a compost bin & we grow 2 kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, 2 nectarine trees, raspberries, blueberries, dill, parsley, onions & Moroccan mint. We've done a lot with a small (in farming terms) space. He wants to one day have a smaller house but have it out in the country so he can keep chickens & possibly a cow & a goat. I know ZILCH about livestock, myself but he says that eggs from fresh under a chicken actually taste different. He also wants a large greenhouse so that we can grow stuff in the winter. I'm fine with all this -providing I get my Endless pool! images.webp

We had an outdoor pool in our last house but with our weather, it is highly impractical. Indoors is the way to go in our iffy climate.

Organic farming & urban farming are undergoing a huge resurgence here in QC with many people using their rooftops, balconies & even small front yard spaces to grow food. Some people are advocating for the right to keep chickens within the city & the suburbs. Opponents are understandably concerned about hygiene & noise.
 
I'd like to have my own automotive repair shop but a different kind from the norm. it would be called an Automotive Craft shop which is where people can get instructions on how to fix their own vehicle one part at a time. or if someone already knows how to fix their car and is on the road traveling, they can rent the bay and tools they need to save some money rather then have someone else do it for them and pay too much money for the repair.
 
What I want to be most is a Theoretical Physicist or something similar. I want to unlock the answers of the universe, and I'm not going to stop until I, or someone before me, does it. I would really love to work alongside Jason Barnett. If you have not heard of him, I recommend watching some of videos about him.
Physics and Math is the Answer :)

If I can do something like Math and Physics all day, I'll flap my hands in joy. I wished I studied harder for the Sciences!

I'll never forget that physics ended a Great War, Maths open up a whole new world and way of thinking, and science can be developed to move the world forward. :)

To be honest Maths and Sciences were always my best classes (nearly failed Social and English arts every year), but I never did enjoy Math much. But now because I'm learning so much in physics I need Maths. It's going to help me prove or disprove my theory's so I can publish them or come up with more.
@Geordie Same here! Iv realized how much more I could be researching this stuff recently, I'v been going hard.

Duh, what about J K Rowling, who was unemployed and eventually wrote a bestseller?

I'd love to wrote professionally, but the idea of potentially becoming well known or famous freaks the bejezus out of me. Imagine the horror of being a public person, recognized most places you go. I know many people (esp in the west) crave fame. I've never understood this. Even when writing under a nom de plume, writers whose work becomes celebrated get outed & recognized.

I don't want my face to wind up on tv, in magazines or anywhere else. My revulsion to fame is what keeps me from submitting manuscripts to publishers or even self-publishing.

Don't worry, we may consider writing because we love the process of writing, and only writing. :)
