University students- young adult aspies

Emzical

Well-Known Member
Hi I'm looking to meet university students or people of that age. I was only diagnosed this year through my university and I would love to meet some students coping with it. Some of my family have it and I'm incredibly lucky in that respect to be so understood. However, I haven't befriended any one with it, mainly because I'm quite unsociable and also as it is an invisible condition.

Welcome Emzical!

Since I'm almost into my 30's I don't know if I'd count as "that age" now, but I find it difficult to find local aspie groups which are just social groups rather than support groups.

Haha I'll welcome you all the same! I was only reaching out to people my age because I've never met an aspie my age and I haven't ever met a female aspie. But we can be friends haha

I met a huge amount of aspies (both male and female) during my university days but post-education it's hard to find others IRL as we're either too busy with other parts of life or there simply aren't the local groups. I'm in Hampshire, BTW.

"I haven't ever met a female aspie before" Aaah you reminded me of this :D

Hi I'm a female Aspie and I'm 19 years old. I'm a sophomore in college right now. Im interested in finding someone my age too who I can relate to since I'm surrounded by and will always be surrounded by neurotypicals all my life. It's really hard to find people like us! And it's hard to cope with being at least for me a little socially incompetent.

Hi. I'm a university student too. Autism isn't really a problem for me, as people around my age simply are clueless about intellectual fields. However, depression is.
What's your major ? I'm an economics student.

What do you mean when you say that ppl your age are clueless about intellectual field? My major is psychology and it's funny that you have depression because I do too. What's your major?

I said I'm an economics student, Maraisa. What I mean is that they are left-wing and know about socialism less than I do which is embarrassing to look at... They don't understand philosophy, they can't hold self-consistent views (double-thinking), they never read a single book of economics but they already have an opinion on it "free market is evil"... They hate Trump and think he's racist, when asked why he's racist they can't even justify their opinion... They don't know a tiny bit about science they just believe their mantra. When asked, they believe GMOs are evil and are cause for cancer (A hundred Nobel Prizes made a petition begging GreenPeace to stop with its stupidity because it was killing people, but no, GreenPeace knows better...), they think nuclear energy is evil and think we should replace it with green energies that would cost us twice as much and require fossil fuel in case there is no sun or wind which would increase CO² when according to them global warming is more dangerous than the hypothetical accidents there could be with nuclear energy...
I tried to speak with them, to argue. No point, rationality is lost on them.

They can speak about movies, or other useless 'people stuff'. I never watch movies, I don't care about gossip, I don't care about celebrities, I don't care about ****** novels written for teenagers, I don't care about ****** monkey music teenagers seem to love, I don't care about GoT or HoC or whatever **** they watch, and I don't go partying with strangers. Aside from reading and thinking and playing video games, I don't have any hobby.
The worst is looking at people with rich parents being left-wing and giving me lessons on helping the poor saying in that case they should let me starve.
I wouldn't need government help if they didn't wreck the economy in the first place. So, they're accusing me of being hypocrite, because I can't survive without welfare, BECAUSE they destroyed the economy making a whole class of people who are forced to vote for the left otherwise they starve, guaranteeing a political monopoly for them ? And I'm the one in the wrong here ?! This sounds exactly like Machiavelli's wet-dream, he'd say "Wow, you're genius, you surpassed everything I could have imagined!".
I can't consider any single one of them as a friend. Their thinking is shallow.

I did meet one interesting guy who comes from South America. He saw firsthand the failure of socialism, so he doesn't hold this ideology on a pedestal. When I give him books to read on economics, he reads them. I'll see if that amounts to something.
I'm sure there are some interesting people out there, but I'm autistic after all. I can act normal, I can even act like a leader for some time but it requires me tremendous efforts, and every time I do, I can't bear with it and then I ignore everyone and destroy my standing. At first people try to speak with me, but I don't want to, then quickly I'm left alone.
People usually feel disappointed in me because they expected me to be like how I projected, and it depresses me that I disappointed them.

Hi & Welcome,
I think a teen and/or young adult thread is a good idea. I won't be on it but wish you luck with it.
