Old-fashioned Advertisements

30 years ago Australia went through a period of very graphic and disturbing drink driving adverts. Advertisers worked out pretty quickly that really gory ads didn't really move us all that much, yet this advert got taken off the air within 2 weeks due to complaints. There's nothing gory in it but I think the little girl singing was just too much for most people.

Extreme trigger warning - advert deliberately designed to trigger
It's the Mortein one again, I think you meant to post a different video?

Joe & Petunia - A quartet of comical adverts/public information films featuring an animated British couple who are pretty clueless about certain things; the PIFS going over topics such as calling 999 for the Coast Guard, warnings at the beach regarding swimming in the sea, following the Country Code and the dangers of worn tires:

The last video effectively killed them off because they got too popular with the British Public; them wanting a series with the characters (which I think would have been interesting if their creators did it).
That said, the Coastguard PIF did get a remaster/update some years ago:

Another old and animated advert I remember watching as a child; this one having the message about never playing with Matches:

Frances the Firefly (Advert Version)

Frances the Firefly (Full Version)

Since I recently made a post about matches and the danger of fire, here's some old adverts I remember that talk about getting smoke alarms (or at least making sure they/their batteries are still working):

Forgetful Man

The Silent Killer

Spec

Excuses Kill (Hearse Version)

Neighbour's Smoke Alarm

Here's some smoke alarm ads from the NZ fire services could you live with yourself campaign

Alot darker and more serious than our old "come on guys, get fire wise"

Very impressive and a nice collection. Speaking of a New Zealand Fire Safety advert, I remember this one from 2002, which is one of those "staggered" adverts where you see bits of it between other adverts before it gets to the point. The advert starts at the 0:31 second mark.

Speed of Fire (2002)

In regards to the Fire Safety advert I remember most, though, it has to be this one. Be warned; this one gave my mother nightmares when she watched it in the 1970s and it gave me nightmares when I first watched it some years back. I get chills as soon as I see the door open at the beginning.

I always noticed how cars looked longer and lower in their painted portraits, but this is a rare example showing two different proportions.
