Useless fact: this advertisement ran in an issue of The Transformers comic book. Apparently Marvel didn't run advertisements by Hasbro since I can't imagine they'd be OK with the comic advertising their competitor.
 
Make of this what you want, a Kleenex commercial from 1986 straight out of Japan. I don't think it would have worked in the US at that time, cultural differences or not.
