I have a large range of obsessions, some of which I have had for several years, and others which change weekly. I often have obsessions which come up for a few weeks and then go away. These obsessions sometimes come back at a later date.
My main obsession is film-making. I aspire to be a film director which I feel suits me as I am able to use it as a form of expression, something I otherwise struggle with. I have been into film-making since I was about 6 when my friend wanted to make a TV show. Since then I have made a large range of video's. I feel this is my main talent and I will continue to try to pursue it as a career. I am currently making a film about Aspergers. I will write about this in another thread.
(note that I am 18 and NOT a pro, but I hope I will be one day.)
Another obsession of mine is electronics. I have been interested in electronics for as long as I can remember. My Dad taught me how to solder and I used to buy electronic kits with my pocket money. Although I still have a very strong interest in electronics, I don't focus on it as much because I am trying to pursue a career in a different field.
My obsession with electronics also spawned an obsession with computers. I have built many computers and currently use Linux for everything. I also run a webserver from home despite the absence of anything useful to host on it. I am VERY fluent in HTML and always write my sites in a text program.
I also have a very keen interest in aviation. I have spent 5 years in the Air Cadets and have just gained a BTEC in Aviation Studies.
Some of my shorter term obsessions have included:
ELO (The Electric Light Orchestra)
Heathrow Airport (It's history, layout .etc)
Southend Airport (Also history, layout .etc. It is my local airport which I often visit)
Canvey Island and other random local history.
Linux
Snoopy (starting from when I was a baby. I have a large collection of Snoopy soft toys)
Lego
Australia (was going to move there in 2004 after two wonderful holidays. Things didn't quite go to plan)
Rats (I now have two)
I should also note that one of my first obsessions, and the first thing I learned a lot about was clocks. I was able to tell the time from a very young age. I also used to sit in the bottom of the cupboard and just play with clocks for hours on end.
Does anyone share any of these obsessions? Feel free to natter on like I have done for the last 10 minutes!
