    A couple of difficulties...

Thought I would add an update in case it is useful to anyone else as I solved my password problem. If your passwords are stored on a device in Internet Explorer you can find out what they are by going to your Control Panel, then the security section in which you will find a link to 'Web...

    A couple of difficulties...

I hope someone can please help: My profile has stopped sending me notifications from watched forums. The settings are all fine and this has been a problem for some weeks. I would like to change my password as my phone got logged out and I cannot remember it. I have tried changing it through my...

Do You Have 'Meltdown Days' With no Apparent Trigger?

Yes, although I wonder if I sometimes don't recognise the trigger. I think overwhelm of any kind can cause them.

The benefits of finding out later in life that you are an aspie

Absolutely relate to your post Suzanne :)

    Overstimulated in Public Places?

Yes, I can relate to this. I start feeling myself shutdown and become trance-like. It is the only way to cope. I find it easier to deal with on my own as going into shutdown doesn't affect anyone else then and I can be how I need to be to get through.

    Not feeling at ease

I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables for a long time as a child and also have all the books. I too disliked Anne the Continuing Story but I loved the earlier series. The type of anxiety you describe is familiar, I hope you feel restored today :cherryblossom:

I wish I had my own space

I missed this thread but I sympathise with your difficulties and am sorry to hear of your struggles. I also need space, lots of alone time and like to keep my 'things' separate. My side of the bedroom has my 'stuff' - I have various boxes with my things in the bottom of my half of the wardrobe...

    Autism & Suffer From Photophobia

I love sitting by candlelight, less harsh and helps me relax. I have photochromic sunglasses that stay at tint 1 indoors to cut down harshness of fluorescent lighting. When I go outside they darken. They are very handy as I just have one pair to go from indoors to outdoors. Light can be harsh...

    Asperger's related grieving

Absolutely, I really have difficulty with the phrase 'it is just a joke'.

    Asperger's related grieving

Hi Suzanne. Thank you. I too dislike the notion that if only we 'tried harder' - that is the pressure I have been putting myself under for years. There is a big difference between giving up and accepting limitations. I think there might eventually be some peace to be found in the latter...

    Asperger's related grieving

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I'm sorry that also find this so difficult. As On the Inside said I too hope we can make peace with the grief of the past. My thoughts are with you...

    Asperger's related grieving

Thank you wyverary for your suggestions. I try to watch my thoughts but I find my mind wanders and I forget to watch them, next thing I know I am emotionally bound up in them and it is too late! Because I have a strong faith in God I try to approach my thoughts prayerfully and find His presence...

    Asperger's related grieving

I guess it comes down to acceptance but I seem to be stuck in an Asperger's related process of grief, specifically grief of not knowing about my Asperger's earlier in life. I keep having dreams where situations and people in my past are being flashed through my mind. It is as though my mind at...

    Shutdown-proofing?

I think what you are describing is similar to when I go into what I call a trance-like state. I shutdown and seem unable to pull myself back to the here and now, executive function is impaired and sometimes the ability to even move feels beyond me. In the past I have sat staring into space for...
