The Cassandra Complex (probably part 1 of I don't know how many)

Every once in a while I like to predict stuff. And I?m right often. And clearly, since no one listens to me, I?ve become accustomed to being the guy that said ?I told you so?? that?s also my main annoyance here.

Earlier today I picked up the newspaper, which I rarely do, and the headline said something along the lines of ?fear for an increase in suicide?. And since those troubles affect me personally somewhat, I figured I?d give it a read.

Turns out, a few psychologists and therapists across the country are quite sure that a growing number of suicides as well as an explosive increase in the next few years is attributed to a few factors, among them is financial cutbacks. Not necessarily cutbacks cause people are stressed out, but cutbacks because people will not receive help. They won?t be taken seriously and if anything the risk of suicide is something NOT to be treated lightly.

I said something similar to my therapist a few years ago. She didn?t take it that serious and thought that I was more of an isolated case of feeling depressed. More recently my GP thinks I do not need help at all. But that same GP misdiagnosed me prior as telling off to not see therapist and later it seemed that depression partially was related to my Asperger?s diagnosis. That same guy also told my dad to take it easy and his stomach was upset, while in fact, he got hospitalized a day later because his intestines ruptured and he almost died because of these complications. So while I see an increase in autism diagnosis (generally speaking) and as such sometimes treatment and labels are being given out easy, I feel there is a really skewed judgment for doctors to actually diagnose serious matters that can be lift threatened

Currently the number is already growing and we?re not even having actual cutbacks. Come next year depression will not be covered by healthcare. Why? Is it because too many people claim to be depressed? Perhaps research to see why people feel that way is in order before you claim to make those claims invalid.

But actually, looking at that article only is obviously too one-sided.

On practical experience; my girlfriend visits me roughly every 2 weeks. Coincidentally, for the past few months, she has had a delay with her train because? someone tried suicide by train, multiple times. I?ve had this a few times as well. And for a country that?s not even the size of Nebraska, it?s a lot more prominent in the news.

And we?re only talking suicide now. Just while writing this and taking a short breather I tuned into a national news website. Headline ?employee stabs other employee at supermarket?. While we don?t have guns and the entire debate, I think it?s fair to assume that whomever of these 2 started this, either of them was in fact messed up (and that?s an understatement). When society thinks it?s perfectly fine to fix job-related problems with knives, I think counseling is the first thing in order. Maybe put less of a pricetag on it and make it less of a taboo to discuss violence tendencies.

With that, I also think that violence is actually a way to relieve stress. And from my experience a good one. I?m not advocating it, nor am I advocating suicide, but still? it is a way to relieve. But when even people that have all kinds of issues going around cannot find help and support to fix their issues because no one is willing to listen to them and just thinks ?he?s threatening, I?ll wait and see what he does? I?m almost inclined to say society gets what it deserves. Looking at the criminally insane here and what they did. I?m quite sure some could have reached out for help and I?m sure a lot did, if only the right action was taken.

Here?s an interesting fact out of my own psych files. My assessment for disability states I have some self-control issues as well as depression issues. It also states that if I get stressed out and a meltdown might happen (which a lot of us can idenfity with) I might resort to self-harm or harming others. That by itself is enough of a giant red light to help people like this and eventually accommodate them. Especially when minor adjustments I (amongst others) require is cheaper in the long run than being put in an institution. For the record, currently, because of my social security I cost the government about 30 bucks a day (in income and all, which they partially get back in taxes even)? if I end up in an institution that spikes up to 200+ bucks a day (depending on treatment) and they?re not directly making their money back. They can hope treatment will help and I?ll be fine in the next 15 years. It?s the same type of sustainability I talked about the other day. But I?m going on a tangent here.

Funnily enough when I had a convo the other day at the employment office, where someone with NO medical nor psychiatric knowledge has possession of my psych files and has to evaluate my state of being and ability to function with the normal employment routine, apparently only did half a job. I actually had to point her to the page and paragraph where it says what problems she could expect with me at any job, without guidance and support.

I blame these same cutbacks. They can?t afford to hire qualified medical staff. Any therapist already told me ?stay the F away from jobs for the time being? it?s the worst you can do?. That?s what I told my therapists years ago, and I told them why, but it?s only being taken seriously halfway.
Again, I?m the guy that says ?I told you so?? and I hate being that guy sometimes.

Give real help to those who are in real need.

If you're in need and you don't get enough money, the rational thing to do is to end your life... Or to withdraw from the rest of society.

This will really reduce societal wealth as a whole. You can't value life :(
