What was the last movie you watched?

'Fed Up' On Netflix. It's basically a documentary about how the food industry is putting sugar into everything and how they're weaseling their way out of any responsibility for the obese epidemic. It's narrated by Katie Couric. It was pretty good and surprisingly informative. I rated it 4/5.

I'm on a low-carb/no sugar diet. Watching it I couldn't help but feel happy I didn't have to deal with that kind BS anymore.

I feel I should point out that, scientifically speaking, it's completely normal to be overweight. It's in our genetic code and is a holdover from our ancestors who needed the extra bulk to stay warm during the ice age. That doesn't excuse the food companies, but odds are there'd still be a lot of overweight people regardless and there's nothing wrong with that, so all this fat shaming you see in the media is just disgusting.

True, I know I would not have survived an ice age long enough to reproduce.

Technically, it couldn't be considered "over" weight if it was beneficial for survival. It would have just been normal, with today's "normal" being underweight. And runway waifs...well, they'd have just been left behind in the group's search of food.

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard, it sounds like instead of trying to remake the original they took the basic concept and did their own thing with it. Nothing wrong with that. Rob Zombie did the same thing with Halloween and his version is good in its own way.

Indeed, it is a good film, I just remember seeing the original way back when.
 
The Secret of NIMH

Thought it was pretty good, it reminded me a little of The Land Before Time. (Weren't they both directed by Don Bluth?) I knew it was ultimately going to result in a happy ending (because it's a kid's movie after all, dark though it may be), but I still think the deus ex machina with the amulet was lame.

This movie is set in 1922,yet features J. Gatsby's 1929 Model J Duesenburg :p

Barry Manilow: Live On Broadway

It's a lot different from the album, which makes me wonder if he did two different shows specifically so one could be filmed, but it's good!
 
Last one I saw was a documentary called 'Generation Iron'. It's about a bunch of bodybuilders preparing for Mr. Olympia. I gave it a 3/5. I was bummed Kai Greene didn't win. I was happy that Texan didn't win though. He didn't win me over at the beginning, but he sealed it when he, a 300 pound man, decided to look cool and ride a horse (not a particularly large one) for the cameras. The horse, of course, bucked his ass off.
