Substance misuse

I thought that was the idea of pubs and bars.
Places where people go to drink 'socially' aka
imbibe liquor in the presence of other humans.
People use alcohol because of a specific effect - it shuts down the prefrontal cortex. The more you drink, the more "off line" your prefrontal cortex goes.
The ultimate effect is that one stops thinking well, becoming impulsive, taking foolish risks, and becoming very clumsy. The more one drinks, the stupider one becomes.
Being a bit stupid periodically is a great relief. Life is hard. Sometimes it is good to forget to think.
Being a lot stupid frequently is a risky lifestyle.
Also, it increases all the negative effects of depression, increasing them in those who already suffer from it, and - with over use - causing it it those who didn't experience it in the past.

Another very common thing is for customers to ask people on their own who they are looking for, implying the only reason someone goes to a bar or pub is to meet someone for adult encounters

Something happened last week, I am unhappy about! I was over in the city where one of my friends stays (I won't be visiting him again) and I am in a pub with him chatting, I feel I have had enough to 'my liking' and feel I want to head for the bus and train, fair enough for my friend to offer me to stay overnight on his sofa, but only once I think not repeatedly, as he did I felt compelled to give an explanation why and I couldn't so I said I will stay for one more, (I really didn't want to) to give me time to maybe think of an excuse. That one made me more under the influence and less vigilant. Being less vigilant I believe caused me to accidentally lose my dental plate!
That part right there is the mistake.
Never make excuses, it gives people an opportunity to argue with you and if you can't think quickly on your feet you'll lose the argument.
"I've had enough for today, I'm off home." is all that's needed. If they ask you to stay for one more: "Nah, I'm good. I'll catch up with you later.".

I emailed my msp and support workers hopefully something can be done. Also a good friend suggested a bum bag, since then I haven't lost or had my phone cards stolen. Wish I had kept my dental plate in or put it in my bum bag! If I was told how expensive a new one would be and would have to wait on approval by NHS and could take at least eight weeks I believe I would have been more careful. I think dentists should inform aspies of this!

You know mate, how I am worried about my alcohol and about my mental health.
Do you think for a private consultation a non NHS psychiatrist could take installments like for someone like me?
I feel I am a danger to myself and others not in a deliberate way. Due to myself blackening out outside and blackening out on my home, hitting my head, throwing up on my sleep and choking, long term dying from alcohol . I did tell my GP, mental health nurse and the psychiatrist who I saw

Alcohol is not always your best friend. Moderation, learning how to pace yourself is important.
No idea but I bet it's expensive, £150/hour sort of expensive, and from all the stories I've heard it's a bit hit and miss as to wether or not you get a good one. You might as well start asking for advice from strangers in the pub, you'll have just as much luck.
I did a lot of that in my younger years, I used to drink ridiculous amounts, but I slowed down a lot as I got older. There's been times where I really had no right to still be alive but that's not what slowed me down, simple age is what did it.

I am still seeing an organisation for people struggling with substance misuse. My key worker has asked me due to my alcohol could my extent of my alcohol consumption be due to a bit of routine, as aspies like routine.
I honestly believe if I wasn't brought up in a country, UK, particularly Scotland, with such an immense culture of drinking, I may not have a problem

Australia's much the same, and quite likely from the Scottish part of our history. We have special cultural associations with beer. Not any other alcoholic drinks, just beer, beer is special. Beer is used to settle disputes, it's used as a symbol of civility, people coming together and sharing a beer while they discuss their issues instead of attempting to murder each other. There's something pagan and sacred about beer.
This forms a large part of our drinking culture and a public event without beer is unthinkable, beer is the symbol of civility.
I once had a friend from Australia visit me in the USA. He laughed when he saw an American commercial saying Foster's was "Australian for Beer".
It used to be a popular beer here back in the 60s but by the 70s there were much better beers around and they fell out of favour. A South African company bought the name in the 80s and they started marketing their beer as "Australian" but it's not, it's made in South Africa but even the South Africans won't drink it, it's mostly only sold in the UK and the US.
The most popular beer in Australia for many decades now is Victoria Bitter.
It's good to understand the underlying motivation to keep drinking even when you know it's causing problems. I thought giving up weed and alcohol was even harder than quitting opiates because the first two are deemed as so "normal." Seeing alcohol everywhere and constantly being in situations where people consider it a cultural normality can make it very difficult to give up. I have had to tell myself that what's normal for others isn't good for me and I just don't get to have that. Being autistic, this is a familiar feeling in so many areas, though, so it just makes sense that what is normal for those around me isn't going to work for me. At that point, it's about acceptance.
