Major trouble with taking the initiative.

Sure it comes from being scared of rejection, because the few times I have taken the initiative, it has come to nothing and so, I really hesitate and thus, miss out a lot.

If anyone on here had this problem, how did they overcome it?

Yeah. There are two ways initiative is a problem for me. First is afraid of rejection. There are times when I think it would be good to help my dad out with some work but some how I feel like it was be wrong for me to do so. I don't know why.

The other way is if there is a problem I either don't know how to handle it straight away and need a little more time to think about it or reacting to it doesn't come naturally to me if I see someone who needs help with a task. One example is my dad spilt a glass of wine at Christmas, like he always does, the man in hopeless with things like keeping liquid in glasses. I didn't react to it and he said, "Just sit there, won't you Dylan." As if it's my fault! There was also two other people in the room who also didn't jump up to do anything, why didn't they get equal amounts of attention for that? That rattles me.

I am GREAT with that, but the follow up? OMGOSH! I get so filled with shame that I might as well stop breathing.

Like that letter I wrote to the gym. No trouble doing that, but NOW? Have not even gone back. DId onnce and cried in the sauna for a long time.

I am so sad.

I can't help but notice that you keep mentioning the letter. This is classic Aspie/Auti behavior. It looks like I am in the right place.
