Last thing that made you think or say"WTH?!"

I thought having Christmas movies during Dog Days of Summer
was for a contrast, that people liked seeing winter things when
the weather was hot.

That's why my cousins went to see that movie about the
penguins one summer. To get away from the heat.

Most shops start advertising Christmas temp vacancies towards the middle to end of September/Beginning of October usually, I remember working on placement in a Supermarket in Grimsby in 1994, about mid November they started playing Christmas songs on the Tannoy, eh? It was rather annoying, especially listening to that damn Slade song, and don't even get me started on some of the other stuff.

Still on the subject of Christmas in July ... Three weeks ago I received an invitation to my workplace's Christmas party: a Brazilian-carnival-themed extravaganza costing £58 per head (excluding drinks) followed by an optional casino. I find it hard to believe that I'm working for the same employer as people who can afford this. All in this together? Yeah right.

Ironically, that same week the trade union (PCS) was holding a ballot for strike action over pay. The vote was 85.6% in favour of striking but the turnout was 41.6%, below the required 50% threshold. So I'm stuck with a below-inflation pay rise of 1%. Bummer.

I applied for a part time position at Morrison's Supermarket last week, applied online and did the online assessment for them, thing was I knew I wouldn't get the job as a disabled adult, because they don't adhere to the anti-discrimination Act, but my course insisted I go for it so I did, anyway the next day I got an email "Sorry but your skills and experience do not match what we are looking for", I'm very sorry but I can't help the fact that 90% of my customer facing retail work is in Charity shops, it's the only work I've ever been able to get.

While in a convenience store on a hot afternoon and seeing one customer wearing a hoodie. A second wearing a fleece lined hoodie. And a third wearing a pea coat. What is up with that. I see it all the time. Even when I lived in Nevada and it was blast furnace hot.

Then of course there's those who like wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flipflops in February when it's icy cold out.

And I'm supposed to be the strange one.

I've received an invitation to another expensive workplace do, this time a "charity winter ball" on 2 November (I'd call that autumn myself). At £40 per person to include "arrival drink, 3-course meal, live entertainment, raffle, disco until late" it's slightly better value than the Christmas party I mentioned earlier, but it's in a country house hotel with no public transport access so I'd have to fork out for taxis and/or stay the night. All this in aid of Shelter (the homeless charity). I think I'll stick to buying the Big Issue myself.

When I got The Sims 4 Seasons this summer I made and uploaded some "Winterfest in July" videos on Youtube last month, because I didn't want to actually wait until December to upload them.

The other day I was at Walmart and I saw these new stuffed toys called "Fugglers", which are "funny ugly monsters", according to their box. I think they're just ugly, not "so-ugly-they're cute", like Cabbage Patch Kids or Trolls, and their mouths full of realistic-looking human-like teeth are sure to give the kiddies (and some adults) nightmares.:fearful: I remember someone mentioning them on YouTube but this is the first time I've seen them for real.:fearscream: But who knows, they might become the next big toy craze by Christmas.

In Jupiter's core is metallic hydrogen. WTH? I didn't know that hydrogen could exist in a metallic state. Apparently it can, under the right circumstances (extreme heat and pressure). Explains the presence of Jupiter's magnetic field.

Ugh, not only does my £30 camera not work, even after changing the AAA batteries, I took some photos on my phone at Comic Con and they haven't worked either!?!

Turns out the phone pics worked, they just took longer than I thought to download, and my carer has deleted images from the memory of the £30 camera and that works now with a 64 Gig memory card.

Last Saturday in Amsterdam I saw a tartan-clad bagpiper performing in Dam Square. If every action has an equal and opposite reaction, does that mean that at that very moment 2 Unlimited were performing by the shores of Loch Lomond?!

A repair I hate seeing, wires twist together and this was with a bull dozer in for a charging system problem.I fixed it right and works good now
