Can Empathy Be Developed??

It wouldn't surprise me. People with autism process the world in different ways and are often overwhelmed by all the stimuli. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't care about other people.
Absolutely!!! Aspies process information in a different way, too much info can clutter their highway. I guess this is the reason, Aspies on a one to one basis, take non verbal cues quite well. My son tells me that he blocks unnecessary information and only focuses on central issues...

Yep a lot of Aspies are visual learners. If someone tells me their phone number, I cant even repeat it. If I see it writen down, I can remember it forever, like freakin rainman. All my son's education was geared around visual learning as well because of the need to filter out excess auditory input. Its hard to know what to filter out and often its not a choice

Correct.. Aspies have a narrow information highway but a huge hard drive to retain it, while NT's have a huge information highway but a small hard drive..
