Answer a QUESTION with a QUESTION

If the universe consists of ongoing cause and effect relationships, is it even possible to "just pick an arbitrary number"?
 
But is getting millions in currency really "winning" if it doesn't require any real skill, relying entirely on chance?
 
Is it possible that suddenly becoming enormously wealthy could be so disruptive to a person's life that it would, ultimately, be better off if they had never "won"?
 
To find out if they were reputable studies, could we try replicating them with different test subjects and see if we get the same results?
 
Could we start by having them sign a waver stating that we are not responsible for the results of their good fortune?
