Apologies, I was using the pun you posted earlier as reference. What if we started a global conundrum where people continued to spell career with two Rs by mistake?
 
Why don't you think about what a missing "R" would do to the word "friend"?
 
Can't you do that with modes, like Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and Locrian?
