  • I had to drive away from home to escape my mother’s nagging.

I actually drove to a park but the wind is getting colder and my clothes aren’t protecting me.

When I went the .4 of a mile to the corner it wasn't bad. Wind at my back.
The return trip I was glad I wore a mask to cover my lower face and wished the
my hood and scarf covered more of my forehead. Temp was ok enough (17F)
but the wind chill was -1F.

Your mom is a piece of unmentionable. Happy holidays. :)
Nice to see a new dinosaur movie that isn’t goofy or just another entry in the Jurassic Park franchise!

I just hate the idea of oversimplifying dinosaurs as vicious killing machines. It was a complex ecosystem that these animals were living in. Most ecosystems could only support about 15% carnivores, max. Though I have been to the Kem Kem, an esturary ecosystem where Spinosaurs predated Onchopristus, giant sawfish with nasty barbs, and carnivores were nearly 50% of species. Spinosaur teeth are common there.
I have to take back an apology for someone who didn’t acknowledge it.

Was the apology even necessary in the first place? Much like guilt - I find myself apologising when it's not even necessary.

@tree I attempted to make amends with someone and they gave me the cold shoulder.

    So?
Does that really mean that now you should"un-apologize" ?

Was your apology based on hopes for whatever it would gain you, rather than
true acknowledgment of wrong doing on your part?
Guh, I’ve been here for almost two and a half hours.

Are they that bad? I think I signed up there earlier this year but they've just got so many dead threads going on compared to this place

They are very toxic and will turn on you if you do just one mistake in their eyes.

Unless that site changes hands to someone who takes a firm line on bad behaviour it will continue to be a place where toxic behaviour festers. Toxic behaviour here is far less common. It is much easier to interact and the members, including myself, find it a less stressful place to be.

I put her together last night and in the morning. I plan on painting some parts and learn how to use water slide decals.

There are a few videos on youtube of waterslide decals being used on model railway locos. They are also used on model aircraft. Have a look, hopefully you find a step by step guide that works for you.
Learned that a detractor of mine is upset for not getting her way.

Aside from the schadenfreude. See, what you think of yourself is most important. What that meteor (a bright flash then disappeares) thought of you counted for nothing.
I got some Christmas shopping out of the way.

It's nice to get it out of the way. I had some problems figuring out a couple of presents but then it hit me; several bottles of white wine. :) That always works as presents.

Do some people think I am a loser for not being in a romantic relationship?

There is definitely one member of this forum who believes @Markness is a loser
for not having a GF. The Username of the person is @Markness.

Stop listening to those voices trying to brainwash you. I did and it did not turn out well. In the 70s, the era of Disco, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, f-buddies, the media, including the MSM, peers, and all the messages for guys was that if you were not enjoying sex regularly or had a girlfriend, you were somehow damaged and suspect. For us who did not follow the societal paradigm of a gender role, it was punishing.

Relax a bit. This will happen in its own time. Meanwhile, enjoy yourself as much as possible, like yourself, and approach women, especially those who are shy. And without expectation, be a friend to them.
I want to have a girlfriend before I turn 35.

I am 43 and happily single. Sure, intimate relationships can be nice and all of that, but they can be a lot more work and responsibility than you realize. Focus instead on finding great activity acquaintances and see where that goes. Some of my closest relationships started there.

As long as it is because you want to do it for your internal reasons and you are not driven by the whip of need. I think it is an admirable goal. but, I think you are the latter. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF ON A TIMELINE. You still need to sell yourself to a prospective companion, and sometimes breaking through is work. It happens at it's own pace, especially for friendship.
I wish I had a date tonight. Romance continues to be denied to me. :(

The first sentence: "I wish I had a date tonight" is at least a vigorous statement.

    The second is not.

Who is in this position of power, to "deny" you?
    How does that work?
How am I still alive after all the social disappointments and punishments I’ve been through? I feel like I should’ve died at times.

You are still alive because you are a fighter who perseveres and you will come out of your tribulations stronger and victorious.

I feel the same about myself sometimes but I agree with VictorR. You will come out of this with a lot of new strength. I feel like I came out of what happened to me with a lot of strength and confidence.

I can’t even listen to music by Enigma and Blur anymore because someone who cussed me out likes them.

I try to ignore these people but my brain keeps replaying the incidents.

    Sorry. I like Enigma.
There are always people who say negative things, even family members can be extremely toxic in what they say. And we can fall into that trap.
