Sounds like you found the problem, which means you're close to figuring out the solution!

If you are shy, are you too shy to reply if one was to say yes?
    Yes, you are.
Any reply, yes or no, still means You Asked, and that is a sight more than what you're doing lately.
I overate on pizza. I never learn. :(

What would you tell a friend who kept doing that? What would be your best advice? Any ideas?
I can’t bear seeing couples out in the world while I can’t even get a coffee date. :(

@Markness You can't bear it ? You collapse? Your atoms diffuse? Maybe it's more realistic to say that you would
prefer to be part of a couple, you regret not going out socially on dates.

@Slim Jim Is that meant to encourage him, telling him
    he has '1st world problems'?
Reconnected with a friend earlier today.

That's positive. You two should go out & have fun.
See Markness? You're doing it--You're getting up & going out and one little bit at a time is all it will take. Proud of you--now don't stop!
I am almost completely broke. :(

@Markness it wasn't a great time for me to really answer PM's, and I'm not real sure how to help other than some of what I've said here. I did see that about you catching up with an old friend. Pretty cool.
Time is not on my side. If anything, it’s doing what it can to destroy me.

Very poignant story of helpless desperation, @Markness. What does telling yourself that do for you?
Nothing distracts me from feeling depressed.

You're almost asking a question. *How can I act against feeling submerged in the idea that nothing is worth doing?"
I am scared I can’t get my life in order at my age (33 and 1/2) and that I will never come into my own.

    You're saying you're feeling powerless.

Sorry to hear that. Was this one of your first sessions? If so, that might actually get a lot better over time!

I’ve been going to this therapist for years now.
I wish there were books for men like me who want a girlfriend at my age (33) but struggle to just even get our feet in the door.
I wish it wasn’t so hard for me to just get a coffee date. It almost feels impossible.

Re-state that as a positive goal.

I want to know if it’s possible for me to find love at my age.
    tree
    tree
@Markness That's it? Just a sort of survey type question? "Is it or is it not possible for a person to love at the age of 30+ years?" Why wouldn't it be possible to love? Note, I am not saying "find love." I am saying 'love.'
I envy those who can easily socially interact and get dates. I bang my head against the wall instead.
    Still feeling feverish.

I haven’t nor has anyone else. The fever broke this morning.

If the temperature wasn't measured, how do you know it was a fever?
    Feeling feverish at work.
