Advice on sharing space... Boyfriend visiting in a week!

Hi, So I've been with my boyfriend seven(?) months now. In January, I had to move out of state. We text and call each other multiple times a day; we miss each other, but we make it work. In a week he will be visiting me out here for several days and, while I am really excited, I'm worried...

    Are we robotic?

Oh, looks like I misinterpreted the point of the OP as well. Yeah, I think it's fine. Several years ago I only wrote fan fiction for Skyrim now I'll only write it for Fallout or Don't Starve. I think this level of commitment to a fandom is not exclusive to people on the spectrum. And who really...

    Are we robotic?

Okay, I was hoping it meant that. But I couldn't be sure. I didn't think anyone else here was as lame as me  I think writing OCs is a normal thing. My issue with fanfictions aren't OCs, I see them generally as a symptom of bad fanfiction, though they can be found in plenty of good ones...

Would my Mom find this website useful?

I had given thought about what you had said regarding she I and both using the site before posting. I was thinking about it as an option and what I'd have to do to mitigate those downsides. She wouldn't have to make an account to browse some parts of the site and I post so infrequently that I...

    Introduction

Wow, a Wow, a lot to unpack here. So I don't think you were seeking confirmation of anything, but yeah, most people are that committed to anything. Vinyl records, I must say though, were a good choice given that they produce superior sound quality. I guess people do get committed to things...

Would my Mom find this website useful?

I haven't received an official diagnosis yet either, so let me just say: be fair to yourself. A lot of us go undiagnosed and are here because a doc won't formally diagnose us (if we can find one at all). But still we're supposed to be normal people who just "relate really well".

Would my Mom find this website useful?

lol Personally, I don't think living so far away from my mom should be necessary. Intrusiveness isn't the issue in our case. I just want no more yelling and screaming and verbally pushing me into a corner. It's suffocating. I don't understand how NTs cope with angry people much less are capable...

Would my Mom find this website useful?

Thanks, but I'm worried if it's not something my mom can get involved with, she won't be interested in it much. I don't want to sound like I'm calling my mom childish, I'm not. I just happen to know that she likes social media.

Would my Mom find this website useful?

Hi, I don't know how to lead into this, so here we go... I am a young woman self-diagnosed with ASD. My mother and I have always loved each other but we've always have had trouble communicating (now we know why). My mom believes that I am on the spectrum--she was the first to suggest it even...

Is Autism a Disability? Or a Gift?

Agreed. To add to your list, I'm sick of hearing "you don't have autism", "you don't look like you have ASD", "you can't have ASD, I knew somebody on the spectrum once and you are nothing like them". o_O Savants are something we kind of made up. An unusual knack that impresses us despite it's...

    I'm terrible at this.

I don't think he meant to insinuate that. In one reply, OP says that he "knows that not all girls are like this". I can't speak for him or anyone else in this thread, but I think most people are throwing out ideas, building off previously said things, and taking the obvious "this doesn't apply...

    I'm terrible at this.

Aw, I think the "females" moniker was just a nervous habit. Talking about girls... It's kind of awkward. Talking to them is intimidating. I think he just used the word as a way of sort of distancing himself from the intimacy of the discussion. I know I start talking unnecessarily formal or...

    I'm terrible at this.

I'd say that it's just all in your head, but that would be unfair... It's every movie, every tv show that you've ever watched that drilled these very specific scripts in your head about life. Women feel it too. I feel embarrassed that I'm as old as I am and haven't completed my degree. And I'm...

Internet (anonymity) brings the worst in people

Nope. This is nothing new. The Greek's even had a legend called "the Ring of Gyges" about it. Plato used it in one of his books to ponder whether people would act moral or not in the absence of potential consequences. I know it's easy to get depressed about it. The interweb can be a real...

    I'm terrible at this.

I think this may have been a poor choice of words. Swap "toxic women" with "toxic people" and presume that toxic is another... 'lazy generalization' to describe an individual/suitor that is pursuing you for the wrong reasons. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with "playing" or "fooling...
