    The Circle

Pretty boring day, trying to do housework and not getting much done. Also worried about my middle son who seems to be having anxiety since changing schools this year. Got a call to pick him up from school, but when I did, it seemed that he wasn't really ill as such, but had an anxiety attack...

Do you stim? If so, what are your stims?

I rock backwards and forwards..since childhood. I hand flap too. I also used to jump and up and down on the spot as a child. I learnt how control the rocking in public from an early age, but still do it at home, constantly. My kids have asked me why I do it...and it's been hard to explain.

Do you like being in charge, In control of others?

I hate being in charge myself, and I'm also not very good at organising anything. I'm too awkward at being a host, so I don't really entertain or have parties at home. Lately I feel more comfortable being in my own surroundings rather than going out to socialise, so I might wish to change...

    Do You Feel Invisible?

Yes I've often felt that way. But then I tend to be extremely quiet in person, especially in groups. Plus, I seem to have a lot of difficulty expressing my thoughts and feelings out loud. I relate to feeling like it's pointless to speak at times.

    Dream Jobs

I'd like to be a writer or librarian. Anything to do with books really.

    Storywriting

I love writing too. My problem is I'm typically Aspie and I just want to focus on writing and nothing else when I'm doing it. So therefore I find it hard to switch it on and off and just write for an hour a day or something. I'm also a mum of 3 boys so I'm pretty busy and have to do a million...

    That's My Type Of Book!

My favourites would be Anne Of Green Gables, Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. Any books that make me laugh, I prefer this than dark or heavy stuff because of being prone to anxiety and depression.

    What are your current obsessions?

I've been obsessed with Karen Carpenter for the last 30 years since age 11. That's never changed. Lately I've started blogging, and I'm really enjoying that too.

Interests from childhood that you never really got over

I've been obsessed with Karen Carpenter/Carpenters since I was about 11 years old in 1982. I spend most of my time at karencarpenter.com posting. It's not really a useful obsession in life as an adult, but I'm stuck with it.

    Anxiety Disorder

I have an Anxiety Disorder too. I am currently taking something called Avanza. I also think that doing vigorous exercise daily is one of the other things that helps me manage it a bit better. I have lots of ongoing stressful things in my family which I do find difficult to deal with. My...

    Over-talking?

I'm the opposite too. I'm too quiet. That is one Aspie trait I don't really relate to.

    Good spectrum-related books?

I'm reading the Tony Attwood one at the moment. It's taking me a while though! Alot of information. I got it from my local library. I also got Look Me In The Eye from the library. That book and his other one Be Different are what led me to pursuing a diagnosis. I've also recently read...

Hello, newly diagnosed at age 40

Thanks. Yes I have read his books. Funnily enough they were part of what lead to me getting a diagnosis.

Hello, newly diagnosed at age 40

Hi everyone, I'm Ness. I've just been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age 40. I can't believe it took so long to get a diagnosis! I'm still taking it in, it's only been a week or two that I've known. All my life I've been painfully shy and quiet (almost mute) though somehow managed...
