I’ve been looking into this on and off for a couple of years, and I’ve always joked with my close online friends of my “autism”.
But last week I randomly started reading this forum, plus a couple of books, and now I’m convinced I have autism.
I want to be cautious as I don’t want to reverse-placebo myself into something that isn’t there. Yet which is the more likely explanation?
(1) I have mild autism
(2) I am a neurotypical, except I am very special and I have obsessive interests and an awkward communication style and discomfort with socializing and sensory difficulties and intense focus and in my life I have overall failed to achieve many common milestones, but otherwise I am a neurotypical, except just very special.
Clearly 1 makes more sense, and after learning about symptoms in women, I am sold.
I would like to semi publically document what is going on. I like the permanence of the blog format (I need a lot of energy to do the backs and forths on a forum), so we’ll see what happens.
