We All Have Challenges.

I am on this forum because my son was recently diagnosed Aspergers. I have read most of the recent threads on this forum. I also follow the "shout box". I have now a far better understanding of how someone with Aspergers feel. I am a NT but have no hesitation in admitting that in distress, I feel the same as someone with Aspergers. I agree, that Aspergers have more challenges than Neurotypicals, but believe me NTs have also similar challenges if not all. I find friends on this forum very helpful and great people to be with.

Interesting viewpoint. I, on the other hand, feel that if anything people with Asperger's are better equipped to handle the big problems of reality. Social order is always an issue, but that is mainly brought on by the rapidly dwindling animalistic tendencies that humans display. I believe that it is simply an objective, studious nature; a capacity for informed observation, that precludes most of us from socializing effectively. If so, you could very well say that we are less challenged than most of society.

But I am glad you find us good company.

Absolutely correct!!! Aspergers are less challenged than most of the society, mainly because you have far greater strengths than than most of the society which comprises people of average intellect. With my own experience of life spread over 60 years, I can say it with confidence that a large proportion of people I have met over years with good social skills are actually just average at work.
