Hi there, I just found out this week that I have Asperger's (psychiatrist said so, but didn't include it in his official diagnosis for my doctor) but I need to get a confirmation.

quick question though:

In the Advertising and Soliciting section of the forum rules, it is written;
"Members may not solicit others to...give written testimonies - even if Autism related"

Maybe this just shows that I belong here, really (i'm.not.trolling) can i be kicked out for asking what people "...did when _____ happened to them?"

As for your question. People in general wont be kicked out that easy If anything you'd receive a warning of sorts adressing the issue.

If anything, maybe you're reading into it much. The rule is mostly about not bothering members to participate in research and the like, since that might be overwhelming to some here. There's nothing wrong if you ask people that have a similar experience how they went on about it. That's the support often found here actually. Just don't be upset if members don't want to go to extensive lengths about it, some rather not discuss it in full length. Some might eventually ask if they can discuss it in private with you even (through private messages).

But you'll be fine around here, don't worry Just respect others and don't force them into anything like I said earlier.

Thank you for the warm welcomes, and thank you for the clarification on the rules. I am often so literal in reading rules (except when i simply substitute my own personal code for the rules that may be in place already), that I find myself really restrained in figuring out how to be in compliance and an irrational fear of being caught breaking those rules. Now I still don't know what exactly the proscribed behavior is, but I will restrain myself to simply asking my questions to the community as a whole.

Would it also be OK to solicit followups or more details in responding to a forum post?

Responding to a forum post would be fine.. .everyone does it to some extent. And if you're, really, really, realy uncertain and in fear of getting in trouble over it, ask a moderator.

Also, and maybe this makes it a bit more unclear for you. It's rules and guidelines but in general we're a flexible and tolerant bunch here, both members as well as staff. I can't recall anyone getting in trouble for asking follow ups at all.

Like I said; If we as staff think it's against the rules we'll give you a heads up. Rather just explain what's wrong so you have a better understanding about it and can see if you look into your troublesome behaviour in the future. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, talking about getting in trouble and all already. We don't want people to be overly cautious and in fear for moderators and the banhammer.
