That was the only thing I hated, waiting half an hour for a game to load off tapes, and then sometimes the damn thing would crash!

Yes! But when you considered the fact that a floppy disk drive cost more than the computer itself did. A tape drive looked vary attractive, even if it took a long time to load stuff.
 
Even worse was when you tried to save your own programs. First you had to SAVE, then VERIFY and as often as not you'd get the dreaded error message R Tape loading error.

I recently came across some advice in a music forum to use Daley Thompson's Decathlon on a Speccy emulator for practising piano trills. Brilliant!
Any tips for trills?
