There was various versions of the British red telephone box starting with the K1 from the 1920s that was only partially red (there are still 6 in existence that are now Grade II listed which means they're legally historically protected), for a full history please click here. Red telephone boxes are now rarely seen on the streets of the UK since they were gradually phased out by British Telecom, but the ones that remain have gained heritage value.
