Serious book request here:

I used to read only science fiction - and I liked hard science fiction with real science in it. However, I got hooked on Brandon Sanderson's fantasy books. I like him because his magical systems have rules. The rules are usually fully laid out in the beginning of the book and his characters never break the rules. A character may win a magical fight by using some implication of the rules that were built in all along, but never because "they were just stronger" or "they had more willpower".

So... Would I like The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan?

I'm thinking of reading The Wheel of Time books because I'm watching the TV series on Amazon right now and liking it. I'm hesitant to read it because it's soooo many books - and because I don't know if it's going to be magic with rules-and-consistency or magic that is whatever-the-plot-requires.

So...if you've read The Wheel of Time, let me know what you think.
