First cyclone of the season has Darwin locals worried because of the path it's taking. The Bureau of Meteorology doesn't seem all that concerned but they're all sitting in an airconditioned office 3000 Km away, same deal with the journalists reporting it in the news. Local understanding of the geology of the region shows this cyclone in a different light.

If the cyclone travels along it's predicted path it will cross the Arafura Sea, a very shallow gulf where the water gets heated up by the sun. Any cyclone that hits that gets a sudden boost in power, that's what happened when Cyclone Tracy flattened Darwin in 1974.

On some of those autism questionnaires, there are a whole lot of questions asking how other people think of you. How should I know? The people who I talk to are either too polite to criticize me, or they just accept that this is how I am.

My body is so sore.

If I could only get into the same position and stand like the Cadillac statue lady for even a couple moments, it'd fix me. Everything she's stretching is what hurts on me. Oooh I look forward to those joints cracking and hyperextending in the happiest way.

I tried stretching like this laying down, and while it helps, it's just not the same, lol. So I'll have to learn to stand like this.... lol

I call this hypothetical standing yoga pose the "Smooth Criminal".

First cyclone of the season has Darwin locals worried

Cyclone Fina is just starting to really affect Darwin now and the eye will pass close to Darwin Harbour in the next 6 or so hours. Someone was interviewing local residents doing a bit of last minute shopping this morning and the different attitudes made me smile. People new to the region are terrified but to long term residents it's just a bonus extra public holiday and they'll all be organising cyclone parties. Darwin homes are built to withstand Cat 4 cyclones so there's no real drama.
