Okay, it’s a really audacious post for me to start... but I’ll give it my very best try and write it intrepidly anyways. Okay... so, I’m a ‘straight’ guy, 26, an American, and have dark hair and eyes with a sturdy build. And I am an Aspie, but what I don’t have in social skills I make up for with a fast CPU and kindness. My special interest is definitely computing. I also am into sci-fi and space. And, I’m very truly single, tried several apps/places that just haven’t worked, and thought I’d try to boldly ask here:

Would you like to date me?

Before saying/writing yes — I will be completely and fearlessly honest with my personal preferences (like in a dating site search box): for any potential candidates, I only would ask you’d be... blonde or brunette, from the US or Canada, and please be younger than 30. Also, please be aware I am really longing for a serious relationship and kids... and I am open to dating slowly. And as a disclaimer, all interests are welcome — so long as it is not related to hurting/harming anyone or anything! :)

I guess I’ll see how this all goes or if anyone responds... :D Here’s to courage!

I would say put those details in your profile rather than just a random message on a forum (the same goes for any other forums you are on). When I've been looking for someone to date in the past, the very first thing I will do is go to their profile and check their age, location, interests, personal details, etc. I wouldn't search the forum to see if they've ever specifically written a message saying they are single and looking.

Secondly (to everyone), I appreciate this isn't a dating service... but having used several dating sites myself in the past, the chances of actually finding someone that way is very difficult due to having so little information to go on. Dating sites generally don't give you the chance to interact with a person in a non-romantic sense or read back through their posts to get an idea of who they are before contacting them (plus most people don't fill out the profile much anyway). Even the ones that don't charge money are usually a waste of time. As long as it's in the relationships/dating section, clearly labelled (so people can avoid reading the post if it isn't relevant to them), and not spamming up the rest of the forum, then I personally don't see an issue with people 'advertising' that they are single and looking.

Just my opinion! :D

Thanks! I’ve pasted some of what I wrote in my original post to my profile. If anyone sees it, they should see the same info there, too.

I tried several sites and apps, and hopefully either here or there, I’ll finally find someone! But it is really challenging, especially when meeting and dating someone in person would be near impossible to do well as a non-NT. And when nearly everyone swipes left or goes away.

And I don’t plan on spamming anywhere. Outside of starting this thread, I did post in the Dating Corner (per a link given earlier in this thread), but I don’t have any plans to be obnoxious. I’m truly excited to be here and hope to be a part of this community in time. Thanks. :-)
 
Sorry; not really partial to redheads — although a slight copper tinge in brown hair I think is nice. And... no, I’m the exact opposite of what anyone would consider or call ‘hot’. Quite seriously; I would not be posting this thread here if I had that trait. Anyway, welcome to the forums!

You would be surprised how many hot guys there are living in their mothers' basements. I was just asking if you were hot because it was the weirdest and creepiest thing to end my post with, while still being relevant to the topic. Plus things would get interesting if you actually were hot.

Bleah. What a shortage of interested women. Maybe there is a hot redhead living 3 blocks away from you reading this thread right now thinking "Aww too bad, he doesn't like redheads".

I know! If any USA-based hot redheads are reading this, post "Sorry I'm a redhead".

Hmmm and maybe we need to spice up the topic a bit.

How about "Hardware specialist looking for recent model to overclock."? If you feel like it's too risky you could add "Don't worry, I'm an expert.".

Well, this varies; I have machines using a 68030 (m68k) and legacy PowerPC ranging up to more modern, multi-core AMD64 and a few using variants of ARM chipsets.

However... I actually wasn’t referring to what my computers use, but jokingly at my own internal ‘CPU’ (mind) in this particular case. :grinning: But... I feel absolutely silly now for posting that tidbit, as it’s most likely revealing itself to be slower than I would hope for. Overall, I just said it for any girls to see. :D

Just an OT question here. I noticed a lot of Aspie men say they want a partner with the following qualities:

  • Caring
  • Empathy
  • Sympathy

How does that work? Do Aspie men prefer NT women?

Edit: not saying ALL aspies lack these skills. Thinking in terms that most have difficulties with these specific skills.

I'm autistic and hyperempathetic. Not all aspies lack empathy - most don't. We just show it differently. :)
