When I had a yard, I never raked my leaves. Nope, not ever. If anything I'd collect other people's leaves and put them in my yard. I found that it keeps the soil warm enough that some of my garden plants can overwinter. Plus, as they rot in the spring, they make good topsoil.

When I went on a hike today, the trees whispered to me “we want our leaves back, it’s chilly up here.” They will get them back, but they will have to come up through the soil and grow again.
