velociraptor, your beautiful photograph takes me back to the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, "The Ugly Duckling." Remember? I think that Andersen could have been talking, metaphorically, in his fairytale about NTs making fun of Aspies, calling us "ugly." But, of course, such name-calling is out of ignorance and out of a lack of understanding the diversity of human life. Through various but through similar methods, our baby "ugliness" gives way to an understanding of who we really and truly are. We are not ducks and we are not ugly. We grow, metaphorically, into beautiful, perfect for our species, adult swans. . . .
