Runners training for the Badwater ultramarathon use saunas to train their bodies to get used to hot temperatures. Badwater is a foot race that starts in Badwater, Death Valley, in summer, and goes 135 miles to the base of Mt Whitney.

I once drove through Death Valley with a car with no a/c. I had food, 3 gallons of ice and 10, 1 gallon bottles of water along. We didn’t stop until we got to the hotel. :D

If you cross the US/Mexico border in a small town like Tecate, you will be delighted to drive through small town Baja, through rolling mountainsides dotted with tin-roofed cottages. You will have to stop on dirt roads every now and again to allow a farmer to guide his flock or herd across the road. There will be creeks that run through the roads, and you'll have to be careful driving through these. The people are so friendly, and the pace of life is very slow and relaxed. It's heaven.
