Increase in autistic behaviours after diagnosis?

Before my dx I was told that the reason I didn't make much eye contact was because I didn't trust people and that I needed to work on that if I wanted to be happy. & also that in order to be happy I needed to spend more time with people and less time alone (because that fed my depression). Turns out the opposite was true.

Eye contact has definitely been a big issue for me, and yeah, since I have noticed myself stimming more for over a year now, I'm guessing it's part "letting myself be aspie" and part "noticing it more" :)

Hey,
I noticed that after my diagnosis, I started stimming more and displaying more behaviours. Not sure why.
Placebo effect? Letting loose? Other idea? I want to hear it. Just curious

I'm not yet diagnosed, but when I learned about this only weeks ago, I finally understood so many of my behaviors! As a result, I may have gone a bit too far in allowing them. Not stimming, but mostly pushing myself to do things I didn't want to do (housework and some other things). Instead of forcing myself to do things that are difficult for me, I decided to give myself a little break. I realized that I needed that break! Whether or not I did the right thing is up for debate, but I don't care. It was a relief to let myself off the hook without wondering why or feeling shame. So I wonder if that's what happened for you. That seems similar to what a couple of others here have said.
