Implementing Material Design in Android Studio App

leviathan1701

Peace & Long Life
Hello,

I am trying to implement Google's Material Design in an app I am creating in Android Studio. This app is for a major university assignment, however when I run the app either on both my phone or using the Android emulator, it builds successfully but immediately I get an error message saying "App Name has stopped working" on the phone / emulator.

I am very new to Android app development and have been following step by step implementation guides online. Each step has been followed exactly, but the app still crashes on startup. I have looked at the stack trace but I am unable to make any head or tails of what is it telling me.

I have been trying to debug this for three days with no success and I am on the verge of pulling my hair out.

Any recommendations or assistance I greatly appreciated :)
