Professor of All Things
Hello everybody!
I've decided to join this forum to connect with some similar people, and to learn how better to deal with Asperger's and ADHD.
It's probably a good idea to lurk for a bit so I don't embarrass myself right off the bat as I tend to do on forums like these, but in all likelihood that's not going to happen. I doubt anybody here is a stranger to that sort of thing though.
My main hobby (and hopefully future profession) is playing music, mostly the guitar. I also like worldbuilding and the outdoors, and just about anything to do with either.

Hello and welcome, @c flat.

I am no stranger to feeling embarrassed, myself. But it's worse to always live in fear and do nothing at all.

Hello and Welcome C flat. Do you prefer the key of B? ;)

I am also a musician, my main interests right now are banjo and voice, but I play the banjo like a guitar. What kind of music do you like?

Hello there! I have been known to play in C# minor on occasion...
I listen to a huge variety of music (yes, even metal), but I mostly play and listen to alternative rock and adjacent genres; occasionally some more folkish stuff too.
Edit: I suppose I should ask you too, since that's how conversations generally work. So what music do you like to play and sing? I assume some more bluegrassy stuff, with the banjo and all. Have you listened to the Dillards perhaps?

Greetings! Outdoor (wilderness) enthusiast here as well. What area are you in?

Glad to have you with us, @c flat

It's certainly better to try, than to not try at all. And the best is yet to come in all our lives. More so for some than others.

I hope to see you around the forum. There are alot of good folks here, with stories. Plenty of posts about experiences, hopes, struggles, and even victories. And I look forward to reading about your's.

@Jumpinbare I'm in the Ozarks, what about you?

@Xinyta Totally; especially since I'm still quite young. What really prompted me to join was a bit of rejection sensitivity dysphoria nonsense online. It's happened a lot and I've decided I want to actually try and improve, so hopefully this place will help- there's a lot more experience here than I have for sure.

You are definitely not alone in that. There are plenty of members here that deal with that, and more.

I know you'll find help here, but you never know. You could end up teaching us a thing or two. Age has no factor with the unique experiences of individuals.

Are the Ozark Mountain Daredevils still going? I saw them play one time in the UK back in the 1980s. Brilliant

Hey, good job on the conversational skills! ;)

I love C#minor. A beautiful key.

I play banjo because my fingers and hands are too small for a guitar. Better to only have 4-1-2 strings and a narrow neck.

I’ve wide experience with different types of music, but usually folk music, starting in the 50s with Pete Seeger and the Weavers, up through today with James Keelaghan and David Mallett.

What folkish stuff interests you, since that seems where there may be some overlap?

It was a close one...

I can't say I've ever heard of any of those people. I'll have to check them out.

I lean more towards bluegrassy stuff, like the Dillards, Osborne Brothers, Doc Watson, Billy Strings, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting. There's also Stan Rogers, a Canadian maritimey fellow with the richest baritone voice I've ever heard; Violent Femmes which are more folk-punk (I once tried to explain why I like them to my brother and uttered what might be my favorite sentence I've ever said, "Part of the appeal is that it's bad."); and a fellow named Jesse Welles who's been putting some folk stuff up on Youtube lately. Donovan also did some folk stuff (Catch the Wind and such) that I like.

Stan Rogers was an awesome man, musician. His voice is fantastic. In my small repertoire is White Squall. I’ve also messed around with, for example, Forty-five Years from Now: an awesome love song. And of course The Mary Ellen Carter has kept me going through hard times.

If you like Stan Rogers, have you listened to Schooner Fare?

Many, if not most, of my favorite performers have passed out of this plane.

There’s a few blue-grassy songs or artists I find compelling, but I can’t bring them to mind. They roll around on some of my Pandora stations and I give them a thumbs up which means they keep rolling around, but I don’t notice names of groups or songs.

I don’t know modern popular music at all, I’m afraid. I will look up Jesse Wells and maybe that will give me a better idea of what you are interested in.

I see you also like the outdoors. What do you do outdoors? It is also a big interest of mine. (See, I can practice conversation, too. ;) )
