Familiarity breeds contempt

Very late, I know, but I see where you're coming from. I feel more pressure when I'm talking to a friend because I've built certain expectations, and I have more to lose.

Perhaps we'll try to manage our expectations. We may never know some of the unknown sides of our friends, who knows?

The more we know about our friends, the more we may know what we don't know eventually. And such contempt, I am not too sure, whether it is caused by our reactions to the unknowns of what we perceive in our friends' behaviours.

You're right. I just find that honesty saves me a lot of trouble - facades are exhausting to sustain.
