Do you think in pictures?

Starting to wonder if the way I connect disparate pictures most fuzzy not clear, it a savant ability.usually just get glimpes they are connected then find out later they were.
My involvement with covid started with a joke my buddy told me, I just instantly saw connections.the deeper I looked the more connection I saw.

I think, maybe, in "muscle memory". Not neccesarily because i'm strong I was strong, and in Martial Arts there's a saying "stop talking, train!"

And in enneagram The Gut unlike Heart and Mind, is Physical and angry. iNtuition is Gut feeling.

I would say most of my thinking is like an internal monologue/conversation but I still think with a lot of imagery.

Found new word to day that sort of describes my ability spatial hyperphantasia. Strange it stated we tend to be creative, definitely not me. Explains why visualizing how the universe works is so easy for me. I would love to know if any body here shares this ability. looks very rare, my super power surprised it has a name. Even more surprised the guy investigating this is Adam Zeman.

I would say i do think visually. But how i visualize things depends on context. Like if i'm talking to someone else, or reading/listening to someone else. I see the words that are being spoken as if they were being written out in front of me, inside a black void with nothing else. When i'm trying to visualize a location, i always see it with a certain type of lighting. When i focus, i can move around it like i'm in a modelling program. I can change things like how bright the light sources are, what objects are in the room etc.

I think this comes as a personal obsession of mine with virtual worlds. I can see how different a setting can be when it's being lit by dynamic lights and modern global illumination, compared to an older lightmapper like the one used in the quake engine. I can see an existing environment in a game and try to see it if it just had a few changes in contrast and saturation.

Having said that. I'm awful at remembering/imagining people or animals. Faces especially are weird for me. Maybe this is an autism thing but i find i can never look at most people eye to eye for too long, and this tends to translate into things like drawing and 3d modelling. I also have a problem with noticing smaller details, it's something i have to focus a lot to remember about a space. Tiny stuff like panels or small cables tend to escape my mind when i'm reimagining a space. I wouldn't exactly say i have photographic memory the way some other people on the spectrum have it.

i don't know if i'm the only one who thinks this way since, judging by the replies I've seen it seems people latch on to different things when it comes to visual thinking.

I think in words all the time, and everything I think of is some kind of a conversation or "talk" in words. Planning things by thinking in words, remembering quotes, reciting the Quranic verses in my head etc. In my mind I have conversations with myself and my friends mostly in English, sometimes I accidentally might mix it with some other languages, because my friends come from different linguistic backgrounds, languages that I can't speak fully or even decently. Mine is a clumsy language created in the 1800's in its written form, so it sounds weird inside my head or in its written form anyway. I talk in my language (mixed dialects) with my family members, but no thinking in the dialects. I sound annoyingly autistic to myself when I write or think in my own language, because autistic people tend to write the written form of the language rather than the dialects that neurotypicals do better. I prefer the dialects but I'm not good at writing in them, only talking in them (mixed). I usually think in English also because I study everything nerdy mostly in English, sometimes a bit more in other languages (a bit, due to my bad language skills). Internalizing different languages would broaden the understanding of the world more. Different cultures are easier to understand once you are able to internalize the language of the culture. I have internalized very few languages, quite badly too. Too bad I'm not very good at learning languages, nor is it my true special interest, otherwise I'd learn as many as I could so I would understand the world better too. I'd also like to think in some mixed bag of multiple languages. Would be fun.

Some of my dreams have in the past been so realistic hard to tell them apart from Once I got into a ground hog day scenario in dream got up multiple times. Got dressed woke up again repeat must have been five times. Strange makes me wonder how my mind works sometimes. I still do not understand How I can visualize math and do it with the condition (hyperphantasia) I have probably why I like physics more than math. Art Is not my think. The only other thing I found I was not good at along with programing in high school. Got one high school diploma should have gotten two couple of credits short for first one. failed third year art and basic computer course. Also hate any sort of language course I guess being hyperlexic did not help.

I tend to lean towards visual thinking, picturing two-digit and three-digit numbers in my mind when I perform calculations. Sometimes, of course, words slip in, but those are more like fragments of phrases, and my thoughts jump from one topic to another. I don’t have a clear, continuous internal dialogue. Overall, I think in images, but I don’t consider it a significant advantage because I still find it difficult to visualize and imagine what I read in books. It seems to me that the ability to think in words offers more benefits, as those people can easily and quickly articulate their thoughts in speech.

I didn’t vote for any option because I feel my thinking is pretty much equally auditory as well as full of imagery. In learning about aphantasia and hyperphantasia, I’m well into the latter, so I don’t think pictures alone is enough to describe what I see in my head (or conjure outside it). I almost constantly have an inner monologue as well, and can think up different voices or have multiple people talking. I can think up the feeling of different textures and tastes and touch and sensations and smells, whatever all of that is. It’s all nice to have mostly, whether it’s for relaxation or creativity or drawing, but then it can also make it hard to focus at times and can keep me up at night.
