Hello all,

The objetive of this thread is to keep track of the painting advance of a dragon I bought back on 1998. I want to have it painted by summer 2023.

I just started today, and I tried to do the first coat of black, but did not finished it.

This morning I have painted blue ligth coating for the blue fire and purple shadows coating for the darker parts of the wings.

I have used a big brush. No details needed in the coating phase.

And I am using half a plastic glass to mix the paint.

Today I was not in the mood for more coating, so I focused to give some detail to the broken doors. I build green and yellow transition for the blue fire. And painted the doors.

They are not fully detailed, but at least look decent.

I think this guy is going to end more coloured than I pretended for a dark dragon... Well, lets see what happens...

Thanks!

Today I have coated the dragon fins, purple at the base to blue at the tip. Its just the coating, but gives an idea of the color blending I want.

And I have worked with the corrosive blue fire acid, and how it illuminates the rock where the dragon is. Its not finished, but will give me an idea of the volumes and lights.

I think the next step (probably at Friday) will be to cover all that white parts, its too much contrast now.

I was wrong. Today I felt like working more on the Rock/Tower the dragon is on. So I painted some grey colours, some light and shadows. Im not satisfied with the result, but looks better than before. I guess its decent.

Lets see if I can finish coating wings in the next round. Coating is boooring. Eficient but boring.

Finished wings coating, worked the ligths of the fires, did some fire reflections on the dragon skin and did some details on one wing.

This evening I have painted the lights and shadows of the chest scales. I have tried doing an inverted lighting, bright at the inside and dark at the outside, like the light comes from the inner parts of the dragon. I have also done the red reflections of that red light on the dark scales. The figure is slowly looking like I want.

This is genuinely exciting to me. Thrilled to see those lights and shadows and watching the whole thing coming along!
