Color obsession.

Illkurok

King of Isolation
I have an obsession with the color black, so much so that most of my clothes are black, the decorations for my room are black and I've even gone as far as to paint my computer desk and nightstand black just so it all matches.

I've always been drawn to the color, to me it represents power and strength, not to mention I think I look better in black versus any other color. I wish everything I own could be in the color, but sometimes that's just not possible.

I think it also makes sense that I associate the color black with heavy metal as well, especially since it is my favorite type of music. I mean, I don't go so far as to like paint my nails or anything that extreme, but people aren't really surprised either when they find out what my favorite color is with knowing my type of music.

I remember as a kid, I used to paint a lot of my pictures using black, most of them were related to another obsessive interest of mine: Star Wars. The color also matches the dark side of the Force as well, so I think in my life there is a lot of good that the color represents, it ties me more to my interests.

I don't know if this is normal for autistic people to have a color obsession like mine, but I don't really feel any different than other people. I mean, everyone has their own hobbies and obsessions too.

I don't know if it's normal for autistic people but it's certainly not unusual for people. :)
Most of my clothes are black but I have a great love of the colour green, specifically the light through the leaves of a chestnut in late spring. :D Lol. I have other shades of course but it's a bit of a challenge to find shades of green that I really like.
I'm not going to call it obsession. I haven't delayed paying bills or sold something important like my kidneys for some green. :innocent:

When I was 18, I also obsessed with black. I would only wear that and my bedroom was in black, grey and red streaked wallpaper. I actually felt like being gothic and so, went with that theme.

I hate black to be honest and that is probably why.

However, I am obsessed with colours in general and from time to time, become obsessed with one particular colour.

I don't have this, but I have a student who is autistic and wears blue, colors everything in blue, picks blue for everything he can, and keeps saying, "I like blue!"

It might be obsessive. That is fairly common among people on the spectrum. But it also might be association, attraction the things or ideas you associate with the color. I am not sure it actually is a color technically, but the lack of it, though people see it as one for the most part.

Well, I prefer colours like blacks and greys, although it's mostly sensory thing for me - too many colours give me headaches. Also, everything fits these two, although I prefer mixing them with blues, especially navy blue.

It is a bit obsessive, but not much more obsessive than anything else. There are people that love pink so much that they have literally everything in pink. Or blue, especially baby blue. Or white - can you imagine a whole house just white with some light greys? Everything gets dirty so easily, but this is what some prefer. A seemingly clean environment (for a few minutes at least). Then, there is that obsession of people choosing specific colours for baby boys and girls.

Colour preference are rather typical, colour obsessions not so much but they do exist.

Myself I love the color Blue.
But I also Love Black It looks good on everybody.
I love Graphic novels and Manga both are usually in black and white with the exceptions of some scenes.
I don't think there is anything wrong with liking a specific color more than others.
I love the metal genre.
My favorite bands currently are Sabaton and Avatar
I love all the historical themes Sabaton puts into their music.
and Avatar has really good performance value IMO
Kinda like Valiant Thorr.

My last house was like that. I liked it, it made things simple, and it was too difficult to choose other colors I'd have to live with. I finally painted it grayish brown before I sold it, as that was a popular color.

I only really like neutral colors, and blue/green. Except for burgundy which is acceptable, I don't like red, orange, or yellow. I refuse to wear those colors. Almost everything I have is black, gray, blue, or green.

Since I was a kid, I've had this thing that all car interiors should be gray. We never had a car with one, but we also never had a nice car. Since then most of my cars have been gray interior.
