Back from South Africa

I didn't know that there are so many different horned animals in South Africa. Wildlife there is even more diverse than expected. It is great that people have made it their mission to protect this gem of mother earth- against all the struggles they are facing while doing so. It would be really great if this could be published somewhere, maybe you should just try for it? Many like National Geographic also publish readers' content (as far as I remember) and this content is superb. Kudos :)

Cool pictures!
Is the photo of the zebra and mule the same duo that you have posted previously? (There was a cute photo of the two hoping for a handout at a window?).
The poaching of the rhinos is very saddening. I imagine life for many people there is very hard- still, hard to understand.

Thank you, I might try and have a look, I think I saw Nat Geo do an instagram thing so might try that lol

Yep, the same donkey and Zebra. The zebra has also had a baby recently but doesn't want to integrate with the wild herds, she'd rather form her own little herd. Bella loves her none-stripy aunty, and Bongi is very loving back

I have heard that zebras are almost impossible to ride and they kick and bite and go crazy if you try. Even more so than wild horses. Do you know something about that?

Zebras are definitely more aggressive. Mbezi used to kick the vehicles as she ran next to them (I think to get us to fall in line behind her as zebras like to walk in single file). She had once bitten someone on the shoulder and reared up to one of the members of staff. She is typically friendly and loves seeing people and getting pets but she’s certainly not aversive to putting you in your place if she thinks it’s required.

Thank you for sharing all of this here. This thread is like another world to me. So fascinating!
