Anyone prefer not to socialize?

What is your position on having social contact? Do you want to have social contact or would you prefer not to have any?

If you prefer not to have any social contact, state your reasons why.

Meaning socialize...socialize? With people and everything? No, not particularly. I like being on my own and to myself. Online, I am great. Just not too up close.

i don't like the human race that much. So i prefer to keep face to face contacts at a minimum. Online one can think before posting, in real life it's very hard not to blurt out your thoughts.

If I prefer not to socialize, it would probably drive me nuts either if it is IRL or online, it would still drive me nuts. (explains the post count). :lol2:
The only time when I don't want to socialize is when I'm going through a really bad time.

I don't care either when when it involves meeting up in person. Because of that, it's always my friends who suggest doing stuff and never me, I'm never the one to initiate.

I must want to socialise on some level however, since I happen to post here.

Hm... I don't mind having social contact depending on the person.

I do want to have social contact both online and offline. I really dislike loneliness. If it wasn't for other "issues" I do not wish to talk about online, then I might try to have a better social life offline.

But then again, the Asperger's kind of makes it hard but not really. :S

I find social contact diffcuite and comfusling at times becose you dont now how people feel and if they really want you there.............

i am ok with myself and 1 other person but i have to really get on with them to feel comfutable so i dont do much

If I'm in a large group and I'm anonymous, I don't have a problem, since I don't have to deal any specific way with anyone. Being around people I know, either friends or my inlaws/stepchildren/kids in general, is extremely tiring. I come home totally exhausted from an office outing to a baseball game with 10 other people - and I left at the 3rd inning!!!

My own family is small...I'm the only child, my son is an only child, I have a cousin on the other side of the country and that's it. Everyone else is deceased. I knew it would happen like this and thought I'd be lonely, but I'm not.

I would have to say I'm very okay on my own...but I do like to socialize some. The problem is that I only care to do so every other month or so, and when I've tried to get in touch friends after that time...phone numbers have changed, people have moved or changed jobs, etc. So, the socializing seems to be forced to every couple of weeks, or nothing. A use it or loose it type thing.

I'm kind of okay with socialising, although I sometimes come across as shy or withdrawn. Or I fail at small talk, fail at showing an interest in what others are talking about. I tend to miss social cues as well, or not notice when someone is talking to me because my mind is elsewhere.

I'd much rather stand up in front of a big group of people and give an off-the-cuff talk about something, or sing, than make small talk and "socialise".

I tend not to bother with it too much any more, I have my wife and kids for company and that seems to be more than enough.

I do get lonely easily and I do like to see my friends and have a good time. I might not be good at keeping up the conversation sometimes but it's worth it.

I'm kinda like that too, I normally tend to let everyone do the talking if I just can't keep up until I manage to catch up or hear something that interests me. :lol2:

I vastly prefer not to socialize, although I'm starting to think I go through phases - Every few months or so I'll become more withdrawn or a little more outgoing, though nothing spectacular. I'm perfectly happy being withdrawn though. :)

I don't like being totally alone. I like being with my wife. I don't like being with more than one person generally.

Generally, yes. I am able to do so to some extent but eventually I become stressed and lose all interest in what is going on before me. Small, quiet groups are fine and one-on-one interaction.

Loneliness has a tendency to creep up on me sometimes, so a little bit of socializing usually keeps it at bay. Too much, like when people ask me too many questions at once, is quite overwhelming, but I don't mind having conversations, and it means a lot when people try to include me with them. The only times I don't want to socialize are the occasions where I've been depressed.

I can't handle too much socializing since my social skills are lousy. Since I rarely ever get contact, I make the most of my social interactions. It can get pretty depressing here without anyone to talk to except my cats.

I have a feeling I'm going to be like those old spinster ladies, alone with a bunch of cats.

I'm already headed down that path....

I prefer not to socialize just because, for some reason, it's rather draining. I feel so blah after socializing that I usually just want to stay in my pajamas, laze around my house, and not talk to anyone. Like right after a party or even visiting family (I realize that's awful, though).

Why socialize when you could relax at home with your playlist and a book? :p

Some people for some reason prefer to be around friends and have a right old laugh with or who they're comfortable with I guess but then again there is time for everything.
In my case, there will be a time when I don't want to do anything but then there is a time when I just want to see people again or catch up with someone
