AMPHISBAENA Words

"Ethylenediaminetetraacetate"

Want an even longer word? Well this is arguably a genuine word that originated in the 1940s and is found in most dictionaries, it was popularised however by the movie Mary Poppins:

"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

Now for the shortest word, well I was wondering if the following counts? This word certainly starts and ends with the same letter as in the definition found at the start of this thread and it mentioned nothing to say there has to be more than 1 letter in the word:

"A"

If "A" isn't allowed then I don't know of any proper 2 letter words that start and end with the same letter, so the shortest would then be 3 letter words such as "Pop","Pip", "Did", "Bib" and many more.
