Why I have FOMO

And this is happening right now, as we speak, literally...

I made a specific choice to go down to the cruise night a little later in the evening, if I go at all... Something about trying not to run myself into the ground with far too many "things" to attend...

Then I see this, a friend's Instagram post, I know their motorhome, I might have actually seen it once or twice, unless they are still there a little later with the motorhome I won't see it to even get a photo of it or just to see it... :( I could rush down immediately (except that I did my laundry), plus a large part of me wants to stick to my guns and go later anyway...

"Fear of missing out"

Basically like, "ugh X is happening and I'm not there to be a part of it!" or maybe "everyone else has this thing, but I cant get this thing".

Stuff like that.
Thanks
I appreciate the info. I never had fomo I dont think. Too socially outcaste to have ever been involved in much, so it's like looking thru a window at a world that makes no sense. I would never go downtown at night, just to look at something. I am trying to inspire more group activities. I feel safer in groups of trusted people

There's also JOMO the "Joy Of Missing Out". Like you get invited to a big event, but you stay home, and it feels so good.

More like "ugh X is happening and I'm not there to be a part of it!" for me...

As it turned out they were with the motorhome for awhile, when I got there at 7:15 they were still there... I'm a classic car/classic vehicle, and love spotting unique and unusual vehicles, a 1964 Travco fits that category... It's a classic motorhome design and fairly well known, but still quite rare... Long vehicle leaving a crowded parking lot, yes I did get a few photos

I don't get that one much, why we are all different, I like to be socially active within reason... For me being social active is as simple as hanging out a small cafe taking in a music performance, even if I'm just there on my own... Or classic car stuff of course, evening meets... In the past I have tried to limit how many evenings out I have during the weekday or even the weekend, allow some downtime

Ah yes, people watching. I love that :)

Downtown can be alright if you watch where you go, car cruise evenings don't happen downtown...

It's so far away. I hate driving espescially at night. Are you going to go and check out the cruise?

I went tonight, see the photo I posted... I go to two or three cruise nights a week right now... I've been going to car events here since 2004, quite regularly, so I often have conversations, there are often people I know when I go... Perhaps along with photography it's my obsession as I go so often, and I am okay with night driving, I have driven on the highway at night for several hours or more, getting home at 2 AM from road trips...

I envy you for nightdriving (and your photography skills too)

I often opt out of events that keep me ouy after dark. The glare of headlights can be so bright the road us obscured and cars in front of me disapear. If everyone drove without headlights I would be fine!

Whrn I was a kid we lived in Los Angeles. Sometimes we would go see exhibits of low riders. Each car was art!

Sherlok77, where do you live to get to see so many cruise nights?

Just Calgary, nowhere that special... I'm sure most large cities in North America have lots of cruise nights as well, I hear about them through social media groups... And further north sunset in the summer is quite late in the evening, as late as 10 PM... On the flip side winter sunset is as early as 4:30 PM

And thank you

FOMO. I have experienced this. It comes from the (far too) many times I was invited to Friday/Saturday night parties the following Monday ("What do you mean you didn't know about it? I thought everybody knew"). Getting this while never actually getting invited to anything until college, made me think there was a concerted conspiracy among everyone I knew.

I know what you mean... Maybe a little different but taking the road less traveled today... While a very large car show with over 400 cars was happening, I was 30 minutes away at a fairly quiet farm museum show, one I've gone to for many years... I got very different photo opportunities that were far more unique, even related to car stuff, and got a ride around the museum grounds in a 1932 Ford Model B coupe... :D

More to your point, I will almost guarantee that the large show will be the talk of the town at the next cruise nights this week, while where I went will be hardly on the radar for anyone, but I rather enjoyed my day!
