Who is you favourite Star Trek Character?

As in the title :-) I will go first. It's a difficult decision between Spock and Data for me. But I think Data is my favourite as we both love cats. I also feel a lot of empathy with him when he makes errors interacting with people.

Odo from Deep Space Nine. I related to the analytical security minded aspect and especially the shapeshifter concept and melting into a puddle of goo if I exceeded my time limitation. ;)

Mr Spock.
With my difficulty in corralling my emotions (the adhd emotional dysregulation), I found the Mr Spock character to be the ideal 'human' to aspire to. Eventually it required prescription medication to get a little closer to that ideal.

Mr. Spock

My favourite character for life.
At age 9, he instantly became my alter ego.
When problems arose, I would ask myself "What would Spock do?"
And he likes cats, too. Black Cats.
I've always loved Black Cats.

Who could ask for anything more?

And then when Captain Janeway masqueraded as the wicked Queen Arachnia.. oh goodness that was funny.

Original - Spock
TNG - Data
DS9 - Odo
Voyager - The Doctor
Enterprise - Malcolm Reed

Tried the 2 new shows and gave up on both during the middle of the first episode.

I'd say, Q. Particularly if I take the books into account.

After him, both Spock and Tuvok. Each does a great job of being that guy who never fails under fire. Also they are both very logical, yet they also wont try to just outright refuse to acknowledge the existence of something they've run into just because it doesnt fit what they already knew, which is a pretty rare trait. And a useful one in Trek Land, since you never know if the Enterprise/Voyager is going to run into a typical temporal anomaly, or a pile of holographic space clowns that turn out to be 5-dimentional energy vampires. Both of these guys just roll with it and keep going instead of having an existential crisis every time they run into something hyper-weird. Definitely for the best, running into space clowns is like your average Tuesday for them.

Also Tuvok has his infinite patience for dealing with Neelix without going insane (and the dynamic between them works great). I could always aspire to be more patient like him. Also without going insane.

And also from Voyager, the Doctor. I always loved his "so freaking done with this" attitude towards basically every situation.

And as for the new shows, you know what, we dont talk about the new shows around my place. As far as I'm concerned, the new shows never happened.

@Misery Ahh I forgot all about Q. Yes, the Q episodes are truly wonderful. I always felt a lot of glee when he randomly appeared, and I knew instantly this was going to be an interesting and quirky episode.

Tuvok is especially interesting in episodes where he loses his ability to control his emotions. He becomes super egotistical, dangerous and rather spicy.

Hmmmm. Probably "T'Pol" - from "Star Trek: Enterprise".

Though in the case of virtually all the Star Trek franchises, I've always thought that the shows make the most from having an ensemble cast. Sorry Bill (Shatner), but you were just one of many great people. ;)

These are all great guys! :-) I forgot about the Assignment Earth episode with Gary Seven and the mysterious black cat. Great episode! And honestly, I really do think they should bring out the spin off like they intended back then! We certainly have the technology now to make it look convincing! :-)

@Judge Was it in season 1 & 2 she dressed very demure. Then in the final 2 seasons she was put in very low cut, revealing jumpsuits.

If interested you might try the B-Grade Sci-Fi/Psych thriller, The 5th Passenger. Tim Russ plays a role something like you describe. It also has Armin Shimerman and Marina Sirtis in it so you get 3 Star Trek alumni. The film is rated low on Imb, but I really liked the film and would call it a B-Grade 7.

Yeoman Rand.
Lt. Uhura

Both were cool characters as well as beautiful.

Spock
I still feel super sad about Nichelle Nichols :-( She played one of my favourite characters in the whole of Star Trek. She also seemed to dearly love Star Trek, appearing in more than a few fan productions! She had a great singing voice and I still can't believe they dubbed her out the of Star Trek V :-(

Interesting that we identify often with Vulcans or Androids, but hardly unexpected I believe. We'll never go far in the have-a-few-drinks-after-work with the boys/girls network, but Star Fleet still realizes the value of having at least one or two of us on every ship. ;)

The "have-few-drinks-after-work" network. That pretty much sums it up! I've often been shamed for being opposed to working all day then socialising with colleagues. As I see it, I work the agreed hours, then once complete, there's probably some project waiting for me at home and I feel I have earned the right to enjoy my spare time.

I used to allow myself to be pushed into these situations because it was "healthy" and "normal". I'm not wired up for that sort of thing, I really believe that. But apparently I'm being rude or antisocial if I don't have the energy or motivation to to go and drink "fermented vegetable juices" with my work colleagues, "to achieve advanced states of unconsciousness".

Yuck! Just my idea of a miserable evening.
